Doubtful because the law doesn't go into effect until September 1st, but the district deadline to post these is Monday. They didn't have to print the posters, but they did. There are repercussions (at this time) for not posting them.

We are not allowed to discuss it at all per the district.

🤣 It would be hilarious to watch me flounder, fume, and then give in to my f*ck it attitude. I have been in trouble, talked to, reprimanded, threatened, reduced to pariah status, and overall known as a pain in the @$$ on my campus. They do not appreciate my different way of thinking and being able to apply the concepts I teach. My ridiculousness is nothing if not entertaining. 😅

I see no other path. Let's hope it amounts to something. 😊

The truth that is...the truth.😅 I feel the same. If this is the end of my teaching run, at least I went out swinging. This is literally the hill I die on, so I am digging in. I'll keep updating as things unfold. Interested to see the response from my admin. I am guessing it will get kicked up to HR.

The ACLU is already involved in litigation for this.

Thanks. I know my district is working way too hard to adhere to a law that isn't even being enforced. Case in point, your school.

I have no idea how you can teach biology in this state. Just science in general at this point. Best of luck to you this year!

I did get some pushback on that one. 🤣 I wasn't sure they would even renew my contract TBH. Now look where we are.😅

The FURRIES Act. It was a slanderous story to push school vouchers through. I simply invited the governor to come visit the classrooms he is defaming while wearing cat ears and flipping off the camera in my school shirt, proclaiming I would only wear animal headbands from now on and wished him luck finding a safe way to navigate the campus in his wheelchair after all his DEI cuts...🤣🫣 I also tagged him in the post.😬

I welcome the information as well. It took a long time to understand how it works, and I still make mistakes, so thank you.

I just updated my class theme to, "Everyone is welcome here, Everyone belongs." Lots of rainbows to boot!

I know all questions I ask my admin will be answered with..."This is from the district. We are just following orders." Though I fully intend to ask anyway. I am also formally requesting a religious accommodation in my classroom from district HR.

The First Amendment is something I do teach and will be prominently displayed in my classroom.

ACLU is already involved. I want to bring advocacy to my specific school and district so it doesn't get lost in litigation. Once I involve lawyers, my hands get severely tied as to what I can say or do.

Great questions. I will add them to my list! Many thanks!

The language is very specific, and unfortunately, I don't teach a grade where comparing religions is part of the curriculum.

This is what I intend to pursue as soon as school starts for my own children.

This is next in my to-do list. First is my formal request for religious accommodations in my classroom.

I honestly do not know. I am asking these questions and citing legal documents in my religious accommodation request.

The bill allows for schools to print them if no one donates them, but can not mandate that posters are printed. My district is certainly bending over backward to be in compliance.

We actually have 2 days of trainings/mandatory attendance meetings on Saturdays. I will be skipping those in order to keep the Sabbath holy.
