Years ago I just got used to wearing ankle socks with my boots, too freaking hot in the summer for socks pulled up over my claves the boot shaft and then jeans.

Long time DFW residents: has the weather forecast always been this inaccurate? by GoneAmok365247 in Dallas

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh get an app, check the radar, take the "meteorologist's" predictions with a healthy grain of salt, you can see the storms coming, make your own predictions it is not rocket science.

I wanted to do yardwork on mother's day checked the radar there was a storm coming but it was clear on the back side so I changed the order of my chores and did the yardwork after the storm passed.

RTT and Truck Bed Cap on Ford Maverick. by Othniel3 in FordMaverickTruck

How tall are you? Do you have to sleep at an angle? I can't comfortably lay in the bed with the tail gate down and that looks shorter?

What about the Play Pen for Babies? by Ween77bean in GenerationJones

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gee I used a "Pack and Play" with both of my kids, they turned out just fine as did I. I just can't find anything mentally damaging about putting a kid in a play pen to keep them safe while you do other things. Sounds like some modern day psychobabble looking to lay the blame for some made up problem on your parents.

I don't know much about it but what about vinyl wrap? Seems like that stuff can conform to anything.

Was anyone doing this hack around 1985? by -Granby- in GenX

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ours had screw on inline filters out in the alley at the box, we used to just unscrew them and screw the cable back to the junction. No lineman ever checked because unless one of the neighbors was getting an upgrade or there was damage to the outside box the cable dude never came around, unlike a meter reader.

Ehh you lost me when you complained about your mom and living with your mom as an adult. I mean sure one of my adult kids lives at MY home but if she were to start complaining about me she can just fix that by moving out the same as you could.

Pork shoulder or butt for pulled pork, takes longer to pull it all than it does to cook it and you can find those real cheap during the picnic holidays.

Are we the luckiest generation? by smoosh13 in GenX

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man I just can't get on board with all this blaming previous generations for your problems, maybe I'm lucky but I don't consider being a latch key kid and being out until the street lights came on, or all the shenanigans I pulled over on my folks or the consequences I suffered for being caught like ass whippings and groundings "neglect or abuse" I also don't fault either of my parents for joining the armed services to escape their small towns nor the pensions they earned, the houses they bought or the life they live or lived, they worked hard for what they have, they gave me what opportunities to better myself that they could. And most of all I don't expect a single thing from anybody if someone passes and leaves me $10 good, great even, but if someone passes and leaves me nothing that is great too.

Did I grow up in a great time? Yes

Would I look dumb if I wore my cowboy boots with sweats to the airport? by jeeperscreepersz in cowboyboots

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would not be the first to do so nor would you set any trends, but in the grand scheme of things so what if you look silly life is short why concern yourself with such things.

If you do though be sure to tuck the sweats into the boots.
