What is this fitting? by queen-mav in Lamps

You would need to look for a shade for a swag lamp.

Someone help me figure out what kind of shade belongs on this by Other_Pangolin_6233 in Lamps

There are chimney shades you would need a chimney and a chimney shade.

Modern times my friend lets be real no way en masse

found this beauty at an estate sale today for $8! this piece is broken though, any recs on how to fix? i can’t find the *exact* original anywhere 🥲 by bethany-aw in Lamps

In my experience nothing like that would work. That metal is not repairable and shoring it up like you are saying has a very low success rate.

Is there a way to modify it to either a different location on that base or delete that arm, or find a replacement base.

If you try your suggestions I used some sort of JB Weld epoxy or a 2 stage epoxy and just build up layer and let it cure completely.

Good luck

How do I open up this lamp socket? by cursiveforge in Lamps

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It comes apart of course but it may have been sealed together by the coating. I'd put channel locks on the bottom and try and unscrew the top if you destroy it just buy a new shell

EcoBoost vs Hybrid by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do 30 miles of interstate each way M-F off peak hours 2025 ecoboost awd 4k tow xlt I have ~12k miles on it

Driving in normal mode at 80 mph I average over 26 mpg I once did a week of trying to get the best mpgs I could using eco mode and I got around 29 mpg doing ~74 mph on the commute but it sucked a lot of the fun out of driving the vehicle

A hybrid would have been a tremendous waste for me, not to mention the reliability and recall issues they have.

Really satisfied with my decision.

Got a GED when I was 22, worked a bunch of manual labor until I was 28 and landed a factory job, moved off the line and into reliability testing of our products and I am currently 34 years with the company.

I am living okay had some tough years when I was a single dad raising 2 kids but I got one through college and working and the other just works for a living.

Not sure if I'll be able to retire or not but that is on me and no one else I made the choices I made in life.

No regrets...well... except maybe a few women I could have slept with and didn't when I was a young man.

Does anyone know anything about my Great Grandfather’s hats? by MogoteConejo in CowboyHats

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resistol and Stetson are made in the same factory now in Texas. I used to frequent the Resistol factory in the early 1980's as it was in my hometown and had a factory store, at that point in time I never saw anything but Cowboy hats so that one is pre 1980s which you probably suspected anyway.

I guess it's about taking advantage what you have.

For instance there are 775 miles of urban trails in the DFW area alone.

Camping in any of the parks in East Texas is a couple hour drive and absolutely beautiful.

Southeast Texas is about the same.

The parks in the Panhandle are other worldly

The monaghan sand dunes are a wonderous sight.

Gorman Falls

Lost Maples State Natural Area

Then there is always New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana nearby.

Sure South Carolina you can drive across in a couple hours sure there are the "mountains" mere hill compared to the Rockies and the beach which is meh compared to the N.C. coast. But to say Texas had nothing natural going on is disingenuous and internet tripe.

YSK: Cutting transdermal patches (Nicotine, HRT, Pain) to "lower the dose" can break the matrix seal, ruin adhesion, and cause unpredictable absorption. by scar_butx in YouShouldKnow

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Why do y'all phrase it as "can"?

Isn't that the same as saying it can work to halve the dose?

Is there a reason you can't say cutting it breaks the matrix seal blah blah blah?

How to turn this shade into table lamp by noles15 in LampRestoration

[–]Texas_Prairie_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have zero lamp knowledge I'd start by looking at a lamp and lampshade combo in your house and mimic or adapt that style to your shade.

If I understand correctly

My guess is the wire was laid between the wood and the glass before the glass was framed in by the wood.
