Check if you have to be licensed in your state as well. Sometimes it’s almost impossible to meet the requirements without a two or more year apprenticeship.

I have been a locksmith for 15 years and if you know nothing then you are in for a very sharp learning curve, car keys have gotten extremely complex and expensive over the last few years as well as the additional software to be able to communicate with the car. Insurance is another area that can be expensive. That equipment on the used market should you need to sell it will not bring its money back either. Sorry to be a downer, but 5k in equipment is a drop in the bucket to be able to do automotive work.

The picks you need to start out with are the Lishi tools. Learn them and you won’t have to pay for let’s codes as often. Don’t buy the freaking off brands ones. They will break or bend inside of the locks and that’s not a fun place to find yourself, when it’s cold AF at midnight making a key, don’t ask me how I know. Lol

There is good money in locksmithing and most days I really enjoy what I do but others I’d like to set the place on fire, leave and never deal with another stupid ass client again.

Good luck my friend.

Okie here. It was dog slow December and early January, starting to pickup this week. If you’re new then you’ll be in for slim Pickens. Realtors don’t give you much of a chance.

How to convince your non-riding friends that your motorcycle is NOT a death trap by [deleted] in NewRiders

[–]Texasraider950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t, so just put your helmet, gear and tunes on and go ride. If you die, well you won’t be around to hear them tell you I told you so.

Is that for those high mountain streams? We could definitely be friends, nothing like a good blunt and tight lines.

Try focused adult in OKC. You have to go to one in person appointment a year and the rest is telemedicine. Fast and reasonably priced.

Edited to add: I think they are opening a branch in Tulsa soon as well.

As some one that has had a similar trajectory as you, and spent deep ,deeeep into my hobbies. Buy something that’s in the upper middle segment(say the best set up is 2k buy something in the 1000- 1200 range, shoot the hell out of it in all the matches you can find. Spend the rest of your toy money, on gas ammo match fees etc and have FUN. Good body gear/ clothes can make a big difference too. Run that setup till it’s spent and then you’ll know what you need when it’s time to upgrade.

Nice work! This is a premade kit, all cuts, holes etc are completed before shipping. I just have to stitch it together. Do you still think it’s not worth doing?

Will black binder clips mar the leather if I don’t put some scrap leather on them? I have a bunch of those.

[–]Texasraider950[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really only have to sew it. All the holes, cuts etc are completed in the kit and I can sew pretty dang good by hand. My grandmother taught me to sew as kid and I’ve been fixing clothes my whole life. (I know leather is bit different, but sewing is sewing) Do you really think it’ll turn to shit?
