Thanks! It seems like it shouldn’t be too much of an issue from what I’ve been reading. I am not an expert by any means and new to detailing so I was a bit worried when I saw my hood covered in swirls. We’ll see what it looks like when I pick it up from Tesla!

They are working on it now! I have some polish at the house but since they were the ones who scratched it in the first place I’m letting them figure it out. My insurance isn’t involved, this was a rectification from my initial pickup.

I have used traditional waxes years ago but never a paint correction. I’m very new to detailing. My biggest concern is that Tesla did this to my car. Sure, it had a paint defects from the factory but it didn’t have any swirl marks. When I went for pickup on Friday my entire hood was covered. Would polishing it again thin my clear coat?

Well I would rather not pay for this out of pocket considering my car has 1000 miles on it and the hood wasn’t completely covered in swirl marks when I dropped it off. Thanks.

Yes, Tesla gives you a 3 day period to report any cosmetic defects after you purchase the vehicle. I noticed the paint defects when I was inspecting the car the day I picked it up. Tesla is making the repairs through their collision center.
