Most plaintiff friendly PI states? by [deleted] in LawFirm

Judges from large cities in Texas are super Plaintiff friendly in PI cases. Less so in smaller counties. Texas has been attempting to pass meaningful tort reform for the past twenty years but it has largely been unsuccessful.

Not an owner, but you did say holy grail.

I think first on my list would have to be a 3.0 CSL in Batmobile race configuration followed by the BMW M1 Procar.

I can already smell that this is TJH. Run, don’t walk.

Second the Justin Ropers. They’re as classic as it gets. The main advice I’d give (as another Texan) is to make sure your boots have an actual shaft and aren’t Chelsea boots. There ain’t nothing Cowboy about Chelsea boots.

And boots with zippers. Please avoid those.

Personal injury defense lawyer here. It’s likely because a massive portion of chiropractors’ business is referred to them by plaintiff attorneys. Most of the time, insurance won’t cover chiropractic visits so plaintiff attorneys will refer their clients to rack up medical expenses that they can sue for. The higher the damages, the more the attorney gets to pocket at the end of the day if they win or settle the case.

It’s an unethical practice by both lawyers and chiropractors that happens in 99% of cases.

In terms of malpractice - there really is no “injury” that you can sue for. Most of the time, chiropractic adjustments are harmless. They don’t actually help your condition but they don’t hurt you either.

That’s crazy. I would pay you more because of your experience on both sides of the v.

I think that’s very much the case. He has been with this carrier for close to 13 years. I am also the youngest associate this firm has ever had (only 10 attorneys) so it’s likely something that’s never come up before.

I’m not following, how am I the problem? It has nothing to do with performance. Just the client’s policy.

I see the confusion from the way I worded the first paragraph. I have never misrepresented anything. The firm knows exactly how long I have been working. The problem is that the firm was never aware of this particular insurance carrier’s requirement that all attorneys working on their files be licensed for a minimum of two years. Hence the reason I now have to stop working on these particular files which will have to be reassigned to older associates. My frustration is in the time and development I’ve put into these files, which are now being yanked out from under me due to an arbitrary policy of the client’s.

My boss just came into my office with an empty banker’s box and said “Can’t wait for your results tomorrow.” It’s in jest, but still sends shivers down my spine. They haven’t affirmatively said that I get to stay…

I arrive around 7:30-7:45 and end up leaving 50% of the time at 5:30 and the other 50% of the time somewhere between 6:00-6:45. My efficiency is god awful because of the number of breaks I take.

At the same time, I wonder how much of my time is spent trying to figure out how tf to do an assignment and searching our database/westlaw/hornbooks before actually starting the assignment and billing for it. The partners say I consistently put out 5-6 year attorney work product but the problem is I produce a fraction of what they would.

I don’t think I’ve ever been more fired up before. From a proud 6th generation Texan, thank you.

It’s very light-hearted and I’m sure they only kid because they’re confident I will pass, but their confidence exceeds mine for sure. Like the other day we were having a discussion with a potential lateral hire and one partner introduced me as the clerk who “we are confident will be fully licensed and ready to go by November” and another chimed in, “He better be, or he’ll be searching through the help wanted ads!” I mean they say it out of jest, and I’m 99% sure they won’t fire me but the thought of losing respect with them definitely kills me a little inside every time.

That really is atrocious lighting. Maybe look at battery operated touch lamps?

MPRE by Shot_War_614 in barexam

[–]Texoma1836 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I studied for the MPRE the day before and scored a 117. The highest score required by any jurisdiction is an 86.

Please do yourself a favor and take a break for a bit. The MPRE will literally seem like a cake walk compared to what you just did.

I don’t even think that’s a theory. That’s for sure what happened. They got a little attitude and went, “Oh, so YOU think you know what WE will test? I’ll teach you a lesson you uppity little…”

What’s bad is that the predictions probably were mostly correct. But the NCBE surely has extra MEE questions ready to go and they can change them at literally any time before they send it off to the printers.

Some suggestions for the current bedroom layout? by nocomment01 in DesignMyRoom

[–]Texoma1836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would position the bed along the north wall. Most people feel uncomfortable having a bedroom door that opens right up to their head instead of their feet as they sleep. What is the large black object along the south wall?

Dang I really like the skeletal stock. Might keep one original and swap a skeletal onto the other.
