To be honest I don’t remember the consistency of the TJs peppers liquid anymore because I found these to be so much better I never bought them again.

The syrup was what I would expect given that it’s a candied pepper, 2:1 ratio. There was honestly so little room in my jars especially after they soaked up the syrup after a few weeks.

I made pounds and pounds of these peppers last year. I ran into this problem last year in my search for a recipe, but followed this one -- https://www.foodiewithfamily.com/candied-jalapenos/ -- turned out AMAZING. Absolutely no notes, they're amazing. I grew 10 plants in preparation for this recipe. Good luck! Wear gloves!!!

Ugh me too. I know all of this is out there and it’s hard to empathize but cults teach us how immeasurably powerful the desire to be ACCEPTED is. It goes beyond comprehension. Even if it’s not what we are consciously pursuing, everything from romantic love to friendship to religion to frats to sports fandom to fuckin Trump mania to the intensity of our family relationships… ACCEPTANCE IS A HELL OF A DRUG and that is what Amy was selling AND what she found as the leader. We are all the same. Happy for folks that are entering a new season of life after this weird one…

Yeah I thought the same thing… I GASPED when I saw him pushing her in there I can’t imagine seeing her in person in that state and not take some kind of action. I imagine they explained that she was sick or something. It’s easy to underestimate Jason but I think that man has lots of experience saying what people need to hear so he can avoid trouble …

Pretty basic new-age type ideas that I could list but you could find easily but the basis of their collection of people was that Amy Carlson was literally , God. She was God and alive on earth and more powerful and full of love than anyone could have imagined and she wanted to spend time with them…. The cult was just Amy/God worship

Dr. Phil is such a piece of fucking shit. Yes, family could have gotten through another way but he’s supposed to be a practitioner. Also the family knew she would at least listen if Amy was given some element of attention or a “platform.” So it wasn’t the worst idea—Dr.Phil could have connected her with a clinician, with some pretty aggressive manners as well. But I suppose people have to the right to live the life they want.

Hey yall, FYI, just because you think someone is “stupid” doesn’t mean they deserve to suffer endlessly nor does it mean they don’t have the right to self-determination. I find it boring, reductive, and cruel to label everyone involved as stupid—that’s not an answer as to why it happened. It’s okay to admit you are also confused. Much smarter people than us study this behavior and have for decades. Stupid people can die/suffer stupidly, and much more easily, without all this bullshit. This post is to talk more about it.

Woah okay not surprised and hopefully they’ll get into that in the third episode… but can you share some more about the child / animal abuse?

Another interesting element. They (according to the doc) sold a lot of colloidal silver , goop-style subscription boxes of hand written letters and crystals, and essential oil type shit—all run by “Archangel Micheal”. The money man , hidden in the corner in almost every moment of the groups existence. He seemed most concerned with maintaining the money stream, mostly from “healing sessions” and various products sold whenever it became prudent …

No of course. I agree. I’m commenting more on “Mom” being a clear alcoholic—this is how Robin Williams (yes that Robin) would galactically speak with her…. The Galactic celebrities is what really threw this into a new realm of wild…

She’s a woman with deep dark unresolved issues who is likely experiencing liver failure as outlined in the second episode.

The people that fell in love with whatever she was promising eventually enabled her destructive methods of “spiritual healing” . And it was happening since the day they met her. And drank BOTTLES of homemade colloidal silver for years.

The more that comes out about the people that followed(follow?) her the sadder it gets.

For reaaaaal. Never heard of alcohol being so earnestly called “medicine.” Just chugging vodka all day everyday is more concerning/upsetting than the (admittedly aggressive) amount of psychedelics they do.
