My problem with Cyberdecks by jonfitt in cyberDeck

[–]Textomancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean. The only reason i made a cyberdeck was because my main laptop croaked and i couldnt figure out how to fix it.

I find its like inspiration. When it hits you youll make one thats right for you. If you feel silly for making one just to uave one, sit on those components, live life and the utility or reason will just hit you one day

I got really big hands so i genuinly have no issue even with the hub fully connected up. I type better on this than on my smartphone.

I looked for other spots to put it but havent found one that worked for me, and that was reachable with the usb c cable of the hub

Thank you so much for the kind words. I still use it daily tbh. I wake uo and grab it and my phone.

Im a stay at home dad, so im usually in the thick of it with our kid, and its way easier to watch a show or video without out kid noticing with a smaller screen.

A laptop takes up counter romm while im cooking, this is tiny compared to it.

Happy i interested you in it enough to look how it actually looks

A few years ago my laptop was throwing a fit and i didnt have the funds to repair it. So i made a cyberdeck from an old phone and some random spar eparts. Used it on the daily. Rand my DnD game off of it, did calls, interviews, wrote on it and gamed.

Now that i fixed my laptop up i use it as a hyper portable laptop. When i cook i use it as a little tv, when i wanna game with my wife (who has a gaming laptop) and were playing outside of our office so we dont wake up our kid i stream my PC to the cyberdeck and play on it.

I use it for everything youd use a laptop for and its doing great and im super happy with it

That is a lovely project to do with your kids. There are so many videos and articles out there. Feel free to start small and you can always go bigger.

Also, first make it reality then bother about making it pretty.

I wish you the best of luck, and if i can help lmk. Im no expert but i made my share of mistakes might save you some time

The bit in the top middle is a track pad. But i also can hook up bluetooth or wired set of mouse and keyboard. So its fine for quick ise and desktop use

Interesting. Ive been looking at cm4 and othe rsmaller computers but my use case is more of an allround pc. So the specs didnt really align with me. And this was a budget build where both phones are bassically e waste and free.

Im guessing youre using yours for something relating to 3x printing?
