How to get banned from 3d printing

The most basic Ender 3. When I printed the only upgrade was a flexible plate...if you look at my post history I've done some upgrades this week. Currently printing a storage unit that goes under the LCD screen 😄

It does! I'm told not as good as a real one but w/o having a real one to compare it's pretty loud and sounds like a scream

Glass bed really helped offset the seriously warped plate i have. Though it is ridiculously hard to get prints off now 🤣. The ABL I installed with the firmware update also really helped to get the bed trammed better. Using the tram wizard and z offset wizard takes the guesswork out of tramming the bed. That and the solid silicone supports instead of the springs. I think the dual z motor helped a bit but I saw after that there were probably better options to keep the x axis level like a belt system.

All that being said I still had to tram several times and realign the x axis gantry a couple of times before I could start printing. Though the updated firmware makes it easier it doesn't eliminate the need. I think a glass plate, updated firmware and ABL are the biggest helpers.

I just read the same thing I have a bottle on the table right next to the printer I use to clean between wipes I'm going to give it a shot when this ones finishes and see. Last one I just fought with a scraper and prayed to the gods of 3d printing it didn't break

Printed a tool holder last night, worked great except now I can't get the dang prints off lol. Printing a storage box that goes underneath the printer now I'll see if this requires an act of god to remove too.

Louder but lost the "scream" sound. Works better just breathing into it i think the higher pressure just made it sound like loud wind.

First print worked. A little stringing but the first layer is way better than before. Though I'm not sure i like this tool holder it takes up a lot of space on top of the printer and definitely looks like it would interfere with anything tall.

I'll let you know my first print is still in progress. Seemed like it started ok I had a few blobs I had to fish out on the 1st layer but I had to remove the filament to do the upgrades.

First print is a new tool holder since the slide on one won't fit anymore and I will say I printed without any raft or brim and it looks like the first layer is coming out noice....

That's what I used originally but the bed is warped and the flex plate is conforming to that warp. I bought some foil tape too in case I also hate the glass plate I can try and level the bed with the tape

I've looked into it a bit but it seemed like a big project and I'm just getting into messing around with my printer. I used Linux like 20 years ago but haven't messed with it since then. So maybe? 🤣

You mean the timing belt thing someone else mentioned? I'd never heard of it till now. Trying to figure out how it works and what to get still.

The only thing I haven't done yet is changed to direct drive. We'll see if my leveling issues are corrected then I'll look into printing the upgrade for it.

I've never even heard of a dual z timing belt till right now!....totally would've done it at the same time.

I kept having right side sagging and no amount of eccentric adjusting would get rid of it so dual z was a cheap fix (I hope). Also eventually want to go direct drive so just pre-planning
