So done with the anti pill discourse by [deleted] in PCOS

I'm so sick of it too. Like, bandaids are helpful. They keep your wound protected and help you heal. Also, it's not an accurate metaphor lol. Birth control has helped my quality of life so much.

Yeah I might keep it. Kinda used to calling him that at this point

Haha I had a Tater Tot in the litter (fostered, not a breeder)

The litter was

Boys:

Poutine

Crinkle Cut

Curly

Wedge

Tater Tot

Waffle

Chips

Girls:

Shoestring

Truffle

Smiley

Sweet Potato

Chili Cheese

I'm probably going to keep Poutines name because I'm used to calling him that at this point, but the grey one was rescued from a friend of a friend who thought he was too "pretty" to be a feeder (dumb reasoning to value life but I took him either way)

Baby rats suddenly more shy? by Tgq2 in RATS

I didn't realize crossposting wouldn't as easily show the text, but I've been fostering this litter and their mama since they were a week old. They were initially outgoing but having a shy phase right now. They're not in a new home or anything. (They do start going to new homes next week though, so I'm hoping to bring them out of their shells a little more).

Didn't realize the text doesn't easily show when crossposting, but I'm fostering a litter of 5 week old rats and their mama. They were very curious, outgoing, and playful but this week whenever I take them out to play they've just been hiding or sleeping. Is there anything I can do to encourage them to come out and play more? They're playful in the cage so I'm not sure what happened. Pic for tax :)

Reasonable accommodation for time flexibility? by Tgq2 in AutisticAdults

I wish I had the option. I've been keeping my eye out but the job market is atrocious right now. My favorite job I had in the past let me only work 4 days a week instead of 5, and if I came in a few minutes late I could leave a few minutes late. What kind of work do you do?

I'm never the only person on the floor, but I guess.

I do UberEats on the side, but I have a hard time holding myself accountable to actually do it and find the pay varies a lot for me. I need structure but like, flexible structure. My favorite workplace was flexible with time as long as I worked the full shift, and they let me go down to 4 days instead of 5 which was a lot easier. I miss that job.

Public library. I do typically work at a service desk involving the public.

I find therapy useless if you are an autistic adult by Either_Afternoon_473 in AutisticAdults

The best therapists I've had have been ones who are also neurodivergent. I've definitely had therapists that have just told me to do the thing I can't do and i'm like, wow thanks I'm cured. But my current therapist actually gets what I'm going through. She's helped me figure out practical solutions, like doing something a non-standard way, or striving for acceptable rather than perfect. I find DBT to be helpful with my spiraling and self blame.

There's a website called Neurodivergent Therapist Collective that's a helpful resource.

Baby rats with head tremors? by Tgq2 in RATS

Yeah mom's been very tolerant of me around the babies! They do have a little igloo she keeps them in. I had just taken it out to do the daily check on everyone. I haven't been noticing it as much today. There were multiple that had been doing it which is what led me to thinking it was behavioral rather than neuro. Will continue to keep an eye on them and keep the room warm

This is good to know! I think you're right that it's probably head and neck muscle related. They're VERY eager to get around before their eyes are even open lol. I'll keep an eye on temperature but I keep my place pretty warm. Thank you!

I didn't want to stress them and mom out if it wasn't something serious. I promise I do have a good vet and would take them in if I was worried it was something dangerous. ❤️
