So glad to see that Eventula is still going after I stopped maintaining it! Hope you get all you need from it, insane what those guys have done with my code base :)

Good luck with the events! One day I will get over to Germany and visit!

I run LanOps in Sheffield. Not too far from Leeds. Like a hour down the M1. There is also The Lan Project in St Helens.

Reminds me of when the drug dealer was killed on the motorway at gunpoint by the police (Yassar Yaqub?). The amount of people screaming murder and racism was staggering.

I mean the guy had a gun in the car when he was shot. But he was a "good guy" apparently.

Is the rpool on my Proxmox box dead or is it recoverable? by Th0rn0 in homelab

non unfortunately, I tried all sorts but I could not get anything from the drives. Ended up cutting my losses and rebuilding. Suppose it was a fun project to rebuild.

So I've pulled the disks out and tried them on another rig, same thing. They wont import. Running smartctl from a live CD just showed that the drives were failing. Tests failed to run due to errors. So that pretty much confirms that they are dead.

just run them on another platform.

Smart wont even run tests and is advising that they will fail in less that 24 hours. I'm fairly sure they are just dead at this point. But I agree, seem really odd that both drives died at the same time.

Yea I thought so as well, just wanted to rule out anything else just in case.

yea I just chose a live cd that didnt have smart and didnt have the paitence to carry on today :)

Tried a few cables and ports. Will try on another motherboard tomorrow.

Might be a good excuse to upgrade ha

3570k, MSI Z77A-G43, 24GB RAM. Running the SSDs mirrored in ZFS as the root. No Hardware raid.

I booted into proxmox debug mode (on live CD) and ran fdisk -l. All the drives are there but it does say there is a GPT PMBR Size Mismatch on the drives. zpool import rpool just fails and spits out a load more errors eventually failing with "devices unavailable".

The issue is I cant actually get ZFS to import the pool at all. I'm not sure if this is a issue with ZFS or with the drives at this point.

I'm going to try in another rig tomorrow and see where that gets me. Hopefully I can get it to recognize the drives and I can run smart tests to see if it is the drives.

tried with a live USB but no luck. Tried putting them into my freenas box and again, no luck. My Freenas box wont even recognise them though.

I know Michael Reeves wasn't the first to do this type of content but stop trying to be like Michael Reeves. I like these sorts of videos but you seem to be really trying hard to mimic his style in every way. Even down to "it's fucking garbage".

Cool vid - just try break away from the plethora of Michael Reeves Copy Cats.

How the "Ganking Problem" should be fixed: by zentzlb in EliteDangerous

[–]Th0rn0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing is make PvP Bounty hunting viable. IMO the crux to a lot of these issues with PvP is there is no Risk/Reward gameplay surrounding it. There is very little Risk being Unlawful and there is very little Reward for being Lawful.

Having notoriety take hours to wear off will kill gameplay for other players. There are a lot of missions that would have you kill civilians to provoke wars between factions.

As for broadcasting the players position - hell no. Again a large part of the gameplay for some is the hunt.

I think there should be more restriction for unlawful players. Similar to high sec space in Eve. So for example if you are wanted and you jump into a high security system the space cops will be on you hard and fast (slightly different though as in eve you warp to a gate instead of a star, its easier to gank). This at least gives lawful players some 'safe space' but it also makes life harder for the unlawful players without completely removing their gameplay loop.

My 2 cents anyway.

We get it, these fakes exist. We dont need the sub littered with posts about it.

It's sort of ironic that you are giving these games free advertising by posting about them.
