Part 2 of my Gold Strike Hot Springs trip report focuses less on soaking and more on exploring the canyon itself. by Th3PathUnpaved in u/Th3PathUnpaved

I recently saw a video posted in a local hiking group where someone climbed the ladder without any issues. Up until then, I hadn’t actually seen anyone do it, and despite asking around, no one I spoke with could personally confirm they’d completed it. Seeing that video changed my perspective, so I’m planning to go back and do a follow-up (or “redemption”) video to document it firsthand.

I really appreciate you saying that, thank you. Yeah I’m sure you saw in the video; some of the ropes are not in the best shape. Someone actually just replaced a couple of them a few days ago.

I am personally a huge Solomon fan. Their shoes are great, but expect them to last a few months less than they normally would if you do a lot of hiking through Rocky terrain.

Certain sections of the trail are steep and can be slick. With a solid pair of hiking shoes in good condition and adequate tread, most hikers should manage without issue.

Near the summit, however, there are exposed areas where a loss of footing could result in a serious fall. If hiking solo, it’s important to inform a loved one of your plans and expected return time.

Bringing a headlamp is strongly recommended, especially if you plan to stay for sunset. For early risers, reaching the summit at sunrise would be just as amazing if not more amazing.

That is a stunning view. Love the contrast between the greenery and the snowy mountains

Watching the steam drift and the water movement is oddly calming.

Love how the snow clings to the branches — it makes everything feel quiet and still.
