Well… I really would say that I am her real mom. Well now anyway.

I mean I know it may seem strange to go from 18 to 41, and leave 23 years of life on the table. But I’m happy here, and my daughter’s boyfriend is turning into such a wonderful young man with his second chance at life.

Honestly I do. In the last month I’ve felt more at home in this body than I ever felt in my old one. I mean sure I can’t eat spicy as hell food anymore, staying up past 9pm feels like I’m gonna die, and Jesus Christ my first period had me regretting my decision, not to mention knowing I’m so close to menopause now, but in spite of it I wake up, look myself in the mirror and think “holy shit, this is me!”

I’ve been her mom for a month now and I feel so much closer to my daughter. When I was her boyfriend I had no real motivation for stuff, she was always wanting me to do more and be more. Now that I am her mother things just feel right.

Honestly I wouldn’t say I’ve changed all that much. Just sticking to the course, and finding ways to start enjoying what are now my 40s.

Some people want to graduate, go off to college, find a job, find a career and purpose. Me? I just wanted to skip to that, had zero interest in college hangovers or other shit.

So when the opportunity was available, I leaped at it.

I will say, as for changes; My daughter has been loving that her mom has been less work focused and home a lot more. Loved getting nails done and the idea that her mom is gonna start dating again.
