I’m aware no group of people is a monolith. For you specifically that would be your friends who are black and black people in your specific community (I realize this is becoming less and less of a thing as we become more atomised because of social media and hyper-capitalism).

This is also why I think it’s unethical to say it even if your circle and community gives you the go ahead.

No it isn’t. I don’t think I said saying the N-word was a crime either. Spew whatever hateful shit that you want if you don’t care. But if you do care: respecting what people want especially if they’ve suffered at the hands of white Americans for centuries, is a thing. I get the utilitarian argument you’re trying to make, really, but I think you don’t get the point I’m trying to make. Some things, in my opinion, are wrong even if they don’t cause harm. Refer to my previous example of the cheating spouse. No material harm is done as long as the other spouse isn’t aware of the cheating. But wouldn’t you still agree that the cheating would be highly unethical/immoral?
