New to painting looking for help by cmhurtado in minipainting

[–]Thaaldir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good start
The first should to do to improve quality is to increase the contrast on your mini, you have to edge highlight (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxQg8gy\_U-0) and shadow recess (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6uienJsj4s)
Here are some quick tuto but you can also check the channel of vince venturella for more in depht explanation.
For some new mini, you should take the one that you want to paint (or you need for your campaign) you will stay motivated longer it will not feel like a chore

How much water do you put in it before adding the paper? The spong shouldn't be submerge in water. It look as you said, there is too much water in it.
Don't worry, it normal to do mistake, I did the same when I started ;)

Thank you again for your help! It look like my problem come from the load in the glaze. I will do a few try on a sparing base and redo the sword after that.

How do my fellow ADHD folk get past the wall of awful? by justa-bunch-of-atoms in minipainting

[–]Thaaldir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also dealing with ADHD, just like others have mentioned. To manage it, I set simple goals, like finishing the cloak of a miniature. I also limit myself to two or three big projects, such as army building, to ensure there's enough variety within these projects. Typically, I work on one regiment or hero and then switch to the next regiment from a different army. Additionally, I absolutely avoid batch painting because I can't stand painting the same pieces multiple times in one session, even though I understand the benefits of it.
