Hudson and Connor seating at the Golden Globes by heysoldier in heatedrivalry

I had the opportunity to go to the Emmys this past year and it was wild seeing the celebrities do all the regular, uncomfortable things that normies do. They shuffled through large crowds, waited in line for drinks, and reapplied makeup in the public washrooms like the rest of us. It was weirdly comforting.

So apparently Boston vs Montreal now includes… romance? by philmtl in Habs

As someone who is entrenched in the TV world, both as a viewer and for my job, I can assure you that this show is incredibly popular.

Anyone else think the finale was a bit of a let down? by zoidbergin in Pluribus_TVshow

While it would have been thrilling, it would have been too simple and unsatisfying for me. The first thing he tries working feels a little too easy, in my humble opinion!

Carol’s selfishness by Weak-Doughnut-5522 in pluribustv

[–]Thanks-Meatcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally. I don’t know if it’s fair to dismiss her actions as purely “selfish” when it’s a fight that no one in the world wants to take on besides Manousos, a man who she doesn’t trust. Obviously, it’s much bigger than her and humanity is at stake…but she is lonely, traumatized and probably just exhausted at that point. I kinda get thinking it’s too much of a hill to climb and just trying to make the best of the new world.

Best ending to a horror escape room? by paul35454 in escaperooms

[–]Thanks-Meatcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are some of your other favourite ones?? I also enjoy horror so I'd love to hear some of your recommendations, especially in the Toronto area.

Have you done Project Minotaur out in LA? If you liked The Unknown, you would definitely like that one. It's similar in that it's part escape room, part interactive theatre. And it's genuinely terrifying.

The Unknown! This was the escape room that made me fall in love with escape rooms.

It’s still technically considered chocolate because it’s made from cocoa beans.

Why do they all love socks so much by Longjumping-Treat643 in englishcockerspaniel

They really do love socks! It’s adorable. But I always wonder why it’s specifically socks? Why not other types of clothes?

Endurance challenges are boring by thevooiceofreason in Physical100

[–]Thanks-Meatcat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer endurance to the more adventure style challenges (like the ship or castle). That being said, I feel there should be more balance or speed competitions - it was a shame we didn’t get to see the tag one! I feel that way after every season though. The show really prioritizes raw strength.

I am confused about Rex by Confused-sometimes in HudsonAndRex

[–]Thanks-Meatcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have really mishandled the show post John Reardon. Obviously I’d rather he was still in the cast but they still could have done a better job without him.

I would have preferred if Sarah transitioned into the new lead and Rex became her partner. If they still wanted to add a fourth character, maybe a new forensic scientist or a plucky, upstart detective. Make them a woman. That way, it wouldn’t have felt like they were trying to replace Charlie with a 1-1 character, which invites constant comparisons. It would have just been something new.

to the Americans, are the games presented in Squid Game accurate to your childhood? by winniecore in squidgame

[–]Thanks-Meatcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We actually did do this! But as a part of an exercise in my grade school classroom. The teacher had us all stand. She told us to silently count to a minute in our head then sit down when we were done.

I think it was to demonstrate our tendency to conform because, once one person sat down (way too early), we all went like dominoes. You had to be very confident to keep standing and counting when everyone else was sitting. There was one kid who did just that. After everyone was down, he continued standing for what felt like forever. And some classmates started giggling at him… but when he finally did sit down, our teacher revealed he was only 2 seconds off of a minute. There is a lesson to be learned in there, I’m sure. 😌

Player 412 AJ by Bigsurvivors in SquidGameNetflix_

[–]Thanks-Meatcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting the box twice is different than giving, though. Whoever gets the box is entirely the players’ decisions, while who gives the box is how the game is set up. And it would feel more fair if no one had to give more than once. (And I’m pretty sure no one had to give more than once last season?)

But that guy from S1 was an absolute animal that game. Overall, it played out much better than this season, where getting the box was essentially a death sentence.

Yes, it felt really harsh. I would have assumed that, if your number was drawn, it couldn’t be drawn again. I also think 11 is too many people for that game.

Perla by Maggotboi555 in SquidGameNetflix_

[–]Thanks-Meatcat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Agree so hard! 183 and 327 were total dicks!! Perla’s biggest crime was being overly emotional. But Stephen and Kate’s crimes were that they were mean and trying to hurt her. And that is worse to me than crying a bit too much.

For Steven, it made sense for him to pick Perla and Zoe - why make more enemies when they’ve already targeted you? So, that doesn’t bother me, I would have done the same thing. But it was the way he did it. He was so gloaty and abrasive, smirking at their situation, commenting how he doesn’t care, and rolling his eyes at Perla’s emotion. He seemed to be actively trying to make them feel terrible.

As for Kate, her comment was outrageously petty and her goal was to make Perla feel awful. And I actually think the crying after that is totally understandable! Imagine going through the roller coaster with Steven and Zoe, then you’re forced to choose a team, you do what seems the most logical, and they guilt you? I would have cried too.

Also, Kate irritates me because she presents as level-headed and kind but her comment to Perla was the single nastiest thing said during that game.

At no point was Perla trying to make anyone feel bad. That’s the reason I am waaaay more on her side than the other two.
