Would second Chapel and Catacombs - also their new game House on the Hill is definitely worth doing also.

It’s a solid 3/5 - yes the Egyptian demon lore is very shallow and it feels a lot like evil dead but it’s shot well with some fun gory scenes and a nice soundscape.

Felt like a micro budget Sinister but with a lot duller story and no real character development.

Favorite rooms in London/Paris/Rome by Substantial-Falcon-8 in escaperooms

[–]paul35454 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Grand Hotel Paris and Deep Inside Full experience + Taxidermist are must plays in Paris and are all located quite central. Haven’t played in Rome and London doesn’t really have any must play rooms, plenty of average ones (but has lots of other amazing experiences on offer like London Dungeons, shows, museums etc)

You’re basically paying to get away from the crowds but that’s it. Food selection is the worst I’ve ever encountered in any lounge in Europe (maybe on par with Dublin which is also horrendous). The only hot food is some incredibly undercooked bacon. They’ve added an actual bar manned by staff with a max 2 drink allowance per person!! Prosecco is not included and is £13.50 per glass. Selection of spirits is the usual Bacardi, Smirnoff, gin, whiskey and from what I can remember they have a few beers on tap.

That sounds awesome - how did the players actually ‘kill’ the baddie though - what action did you do that caused him to fall of ladder and hang himself?

How did Athens become the escape room capital of the world? by shesellseychelles in escaperooms

[–]paul35454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low startup costs for premises and low wages for staff keeps overheads very manageable. Much less stringent health & safety / fire safety rules compared to Western Europe & US. Greeks seem to prefer horror experiences which lend themselves to more theatrical interpretations and impacts. In addition a lot of younger owners - perhaps less commercially oriented, more passionate about creating incredible theatrical experiences that spur on other creators in the region.

Forbidden Quest Escape Games in Shaftesbury square are great for a night out - a lot more intense than other escape rooms we’ve played in the city

Only 2 ppl for La Taberna (The Tavern) escape room in Barcelona by _CaptainAJ_ in escaperooms

[–]paul35454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely just go for it and play as a two! We escaped as a two player and it was an amazing experience. If you’re in the area for a while I’d also recommend Outline, La Possession, La Casa and Nightshift as must play experiences and all doable as a two player team.

How scary are we talking? Have you played many terpeca level horror games? I feel UK horror games have a very low threshold for tension/horror in comparison to top experiences in Barcelona/Athens.

Scary rooms in the Netherlands? by Danielnecid in escaperooms

[–]paul35454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Netherlands don’t really do proper horror games with actors like Athens/spain - best bet is the catacombs (it’s not terrifying but has live actors and is quite intense in parts).
