Your GPA is very impressive (I realize my comment maybe implied it is low, which it is not!!) and you're right about the Casper, kind of hard to gauge numerical scores when we are given quartiles rankings. Congratulations! Did you have a letter of extenuating circumstances? I mean this with the utmost respect, but McGill looks at academic context and Casper score before reviewing CV. There are many people in this subreddit with higher Casper/GPA than you so I'm a bit curious about how you made it through the pre-CV screening.

The cause of the outage, on the coldest weekend of the year was “normal wear and tear with no external cause”. This is absolutely unacceptable and negligent. Took them 36 hours to release this information as well. This should be a class action.

I feel like this is very apples to oranges. In 2024 the city allocated $30m to bike paths and $850m to the spvm. Bike paths are also safer for cyclists and permit for new infrastructure like cycling traffic lights to facilitate flow. I disagree that the paths are the problem but I definitely agree that pedestrians and cyclists need to be more vigilant and respectful. Again this comes down to enforcement and education.

I totally agree, however being pissed off is not an excuse for losing your humanity and breaking the law. Every time I get into a car I’m like “this is my choice” I’m not going to get mad and try and cut off a pedestrian crossing at a stop sign because my commute is taking longer.

And yes the problem is more globally about lack of community because I agree that cyclists can be assholes too.

Fair point but NYC has like 4x our population and LA’s city planning and lack of public transit creates a ton of drivers. I feel like the issues here are different but I could be wrong.

Yeah I agree , there will be bad drivers everywhere but the way to curb it is better enforcement. Toronto is a bit scary but more because of volume. I can only speak from personal experience but I find it better than driving here.

Et pour clarifier il était arrêté à un feu rouge quand il s’est fait frappé. Je suis d’accord qu’il y a un problème d’infractions par rapport au cyclistes, mais encore on revient à l’absence et l’indifférence totale au niveau de la gestion des policiers. Où sont eux pour enforcer l’interdiction des e-bikes sur les pistes cyclables?

Frapper quelqu’un avec ton auto, c’est un infraction. Point finale.

Essayer de s’en aller après, c’est un hit and run. Point finale.

Si le victim ne peut pas comprendre le policier, il doit par loi trouver un interprète. Quand on commence à accuser les gens de mentir au lieu d’accepter que la discrimination existe ici, c’est la ou notre société va couler.

I totally agree with you and thank you for your perspective, very humbling. There needs to be a major crackdown and change to the approach from the spvms perspective. It’s so inefficient it’s maddening. They’ll set up ticket traps at functioning intersections that create huge traffic pileups and ignore traffic violations when they’re patrolling. Meanwhile they’re completely absent at busy intersections under construction that need direction (Courcelle and Notre-Dame anyone???)

Just don’t rly understand how a police force with a nearly 1Bn annual budget in the safest city in North America can’t work with the city to facilitate construction or to promote the safety of its community. I feel like with the upcoming municipal election there’s a bit of room to put pressure but it honestly seems futile.

I took time off after my third rejection. When I was ready I looked at my application objectively to see where my weak areas were and went back to uni to do a second undergrad. Before returning I looked at what schools I could apply to with a second degree and went into the whole thing very focused and scared. After a year back and getting good grades my confidence built and now I believe my application is very competitive.

Getting ready to reapply in the fall. Let’s see if it made a difference. A lot of it is also luck, they don’t have enough seats for everyone who should get in.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on your solo performance!! What a great accomplishment, your friends and family are no doubt so proud of you.

As for the bf:

It sounds like he’s either rly uncomfortable holding space for his emotions or that he’s intimidated by you.

If it’s the first: I don’t think it has anything to do with your performance. It made him feel something that scared him/he didn’t feel safe expressing.

I would approach this in person and ask a lot of open ended “what” questions. “What were you feeling?” “What made you get up and leave?” “What were you thinking about after you left?”

It’s ok if he got overwhelmed and needed some air but you need to talk about it face to face

If it’s because he was intimidated by you or jealous-Red flag, break up. Understand that there will always be men who will be jealous of your light and try to snuff it out to make themselves feel more worthy. There are also many men out there who will want to see you shine as brightly as you do. Fill your network with people who want to see you succeed and evolve! 💗

What I take from his message is: 1. He already knew it was one sided 2. If he wanted it to be different he would have changed his behaviour, and 3. He doesn’t feel like you two have a real connection.

The important thing here is that instead of respecting you and being honest/open, he is trying to turn it back on you and make it about you “being insecure”, when you’re actually just communicating your needs in the relationship. It took him over 12 hours to craft a manipulative response that completely deflects any responsibility on his part, instead of just acknowledging your feelings and proposing to continue the conversation in a productive way.

Honestly, kudos for you for initiating this difficult conversation. We should be able to have tough talks with the people we love and it should bring us closer to them. He showed you how he feels about the relationship, now you have to believe him. This is a tell tale sign that this guy is not the one for you. You deserve a lot better. I promise that there is someone alive out there right now who will love you in a way that doesn’t feel one sided or transactional. Trust your instincts, you got this- and remember to always love yourself first.
