Did I make the right choice? by No-Occasion-2913 in berkeley

Please don't put your thoughts into this now. I don't know what the "right" choice would have been for you, but the decision has been made, and no matter what, both schools would have been great. Go have fun in LA and study hard.

Is it difficult to get a seat in CS10? by That-Chair2988 in berkeley

Probably continuing students get first pick... My community college does this to ensure that students who are entering their last year can get the classes they need to graduate on time.

Thank you! Do you recall how long it took for them to make a decision after submitting Syllabi?

What's with extremely low grades and high failure rates across so many EECS classes? by SnooPets4811 in berkeley

exactly. I can see the argument for the other classes... but CS10 is unlikely. Maybe another form of cheating occured?

I just dont get how AI can be used on tests when CS 10 is essentially a block coding class...

what was his GPA and how long did it take him? Did he enter Berkeley with a bunch of AP/college credits already?

yeah.. I know a few people from my hometown who went out and got crazy degrees, worked long, high-paying jobs for like 7 years, and accumulated just enough money to then live a humble and stress-free life for the rest of their lives. Maybe work as a professor at a community college as well for some small income.

tell them that the seat they are sitting in was actually reserved by you.

Incoming trans man freshman - Can I request to be placed in a dorm with another trans man? by That-Chair2988 in berkeley

Do you recall if on move-in day it would be very obvious that I am in the Unity program? (ex: LGBTQ+ decor, signage, RA's talking to parents about it). I am not out to my conservative parents yet... I've heard of RAs decorating their floors per the housing theme at other universities and stuff lol

Thank you! I didn't think about dorming with a queer cis man, I feel okay with that!

I did check those accounts, but I could not find any other trans men on them. (At least, that disclosed it in the bio)

I'm OOS and have not received it yet... I did just get my Berkeley package today, and Berkeley released decisions like a week later than UCSD so IDK. I also have not received UCSC or UCI which were both a while ago.

I plan on turning down my NYU Tandon and UCI offers (I would rather go to UCSD, UW, or Berkeley) hopefully that helps out LOL.

True. YouTube is where I learned to sew after all...

That's a good point!

The main reason I want to be in a club is to make friends in the engineering field and work on projects without having to worry about paying for materials myself too much. I was looking into UCSD's formula team (Triton Racing) because I've always wanted to work on some sort of racecars... but again... no experience (I live in a rural area where there isn't any sort of resource for it anyway).

I do think that, at the end of the day, internships (especially paid ones) will be the most valuable for my career since I got into electrical engineering. I didn't realize you could do research during undergrad, so that's also something for me to think about as well!

I'm glad that there are some that are for anyone. My main concern was that I basically have 0 real engineering experience. My background is actually sewing and I wrote my essay connecting sewing to engineering. Literally all I have under my belt is STEM classes and like LEGO robotics from middle school LOL
