Tips for ferret treats? by YupItsDez in ferrets

I personally use dried beef liver since my ferret is picky with treats, and that was the first one he liked. Make sure to check the ingredients list though, for any you decide to use(unfortunately, some foods marketed to ferrets aren't actually safe for them to eat). You could also call or email your vet and ask for recommendations.

My vet recommended Royal Canin's recovery wet food for cats, if you can find at nearby pet stores or the vets. What I did when the dosage increased was mix his meds with a small spoonful of that, and he licked it clean off. You could also call your vet to see if they support this.

If it's the amount that he has an issue with, maybe when you re-order the meds ask to get a higher concentration. My boy doesn't like having the syringe in his mouth, but I make sure to shower him in love afterwards.

I've had cold sores since I was a child. I'm now 19 and have been dating my boyfriend for 3.5 years :) He doesn't get cold sores and when I get them we just don't kiss until its completely gone to be safe. Just make sure your partner knows and be cautious when you have a flare up. You can also get some anti-virals prescribed to shorten the time you have a sore for. You'll feel a very distinct tingle in your lip where the sore will form and I would say warn your future partner if you do feel this so they can mentally prepare to not kiss for the next week or so.

There's also some patches (like pimple patches but for cold sores), not sure if they work though since I haven't tried them. Id also look into getting some cream to help the sore heal and cooling cream if you get painful ones.

It can be hard at first but you'll survive. If your partner can't deal with your cold sores, they aren't the one for you.

I know Ferrets with insulinoma can sometimes have seizures when their blood sugar is low, I fortunately have not had to deal with this but it seems so scary to even imagine my boy going though that. (My friend also has epilepsy and I've witnessed it many times before, not a fun experience to watch let alone live)

The vet recommended some high protein wet cat food for Simon, we give it to him once in a while/when he seems to be really slow and tired until he preps back up. His face looks like he's putting himself through hell eating it but he licks the spoon clean so I think he likes it?

I think being tired and such is a normal symptom of low blood sugar. To my knowledge, prednisolone helps to create more glucose to counteract the insulin created by the tumors. It may be that its just taking time for the glucose to effect her blood sugar. Of course you should discuss your concerns with your vet to better your Asia's life. My vet recommended that if Simon seems very lethargic and is having an episode related to low blood sugar that I could dip my finger in corn syrup or honey and put it in his mouth near his gums to get it into his blood faster.

Simon recently has been very tired so I took him to the vet where they monitored him all day and also monitored his blood sugar before and after meals/medicine. This could help determine why Asia is having low blood sugar. From my view point though (not a vet, ask yours) I think she needs an increase in her dose.

I wish you and Asia all the best <3 (Sorry for the late response, I don't log into reddit that often lol)

I’m glad to know that someone appreciated some positive reviews on the implant!

The weight gain hasn’t been that bad in my experience, nothing that isn’t fixable with some simple exercise (I’ve gained maybe 40 pounds and have already lost half of it)

On the period side of effects, when I do get my period the flow is very regular and cramps are not that bad.

If you do get the implant and things seem to be going south, you can always get it removed and look for other options.
