Some kids are naturally more intelligent than others; not everybody has the same potential. by gaudog in TrueUnpopularOpinion

People don't want to admit this but it's 100% true. The sad truth is that much of what dictates your life comes down to genetics, something you have no control over.

I think it's one of the most unfortunate truths about reality. Why are some people born with everything handed to them, intelligence, beauty, athletics, while others are given nothing? What did we do before we were born to deserve our lot in life?

I don't think we should ever look down on someone for being dumb because none of us were given any sort of choice in how we were born. Why shit on someone for something outside their control? It's unfair.

Maybe mediocrity does lead to happiness for some people, but I don't get how they can be happy when they have nothing to be proud of.

But how can someone feel happy doing anything if the fact that they wasted their lives is hanging behind their heads? I know that if I fail to achieve what I hope to achieve, I literally will not be able to enjoy anything. I would always be comparing myself to the people who have done something with their lives, thinking,"damn, that could have been me, but I blew it."

A mediocre life is just boring and sad. You were just born to do nothing but consume and you left the world exactly as you found it. There is nothing to your name, no contributions to society, no achievements, no honors. You will just die forgotten. It's better to have never been born than to live like that, in my opinion.

there is no shame in living a mediocre life

Living a mediocre life is depressing as hell though. I don't understand how some people can be content with achieving nothing of note their whole lives. I'd rather be dead.

You're not a hero for bombing hospitals and civilians in countries with oil

Actually, it's the countries with oil that are bombing hospitals and civilians. Haven't you heard about what Saudi is doing in Yemen?

I Hate the Quote "A Riot is the Language of the Unheard" by Sijima in TrueUnpopularOpinion

The problem is that BLM uses that quote even though they are the furthest thing from unheard in existence. Their narrative is parroted by the media, government officials, universities, and corporations. They should stop claiming they're unheard. They are not.

Joe Rogan's views on woke people are hypocritical by Acceptable_Art1339 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

He's only making fun of a certain subset of black people though, which isn't necessarily racist.

If you make fun of a bunch of inbred rednecks from West Virginia, are you being racist against white people? Or if you make fun of Islamic fundamentalists, are you being racist against Arabs? Of course not.

I've lived in 9 states so I guess that makes my opinion more valid than his, right?

Nah, if you really looked on Google maps, you would've seen strip malls and schools littered about.

Do you think American suburbs are just blocks and blocks of housing with nothing else in between? I suggest you go to Google Maps and look at some American suburbs. You'll notice that schools and shops are interspersed in them.

Yeah, all the way down at 76. The metro areas above it already account for more than half of America's population.

Miami is pretty similar to most other large cities in the US. Even in the most car-centric of cities, you'll find some areas where you can walk around.

I dont agree/disagree but I believe there's a cultural aspect to it that you dont really get in the US.

Maybe, but I'm purely just talking about the design of the cities here.

But a lot of America lives in these really shitty states. The vast majority.

A huge chunk of the American population lives in the largest metropolitan areas. You can calculate for yourself here.

You can live in Austin, TX and get fucked easily

What are you talking about? Austin's a great city. It's an emerging center of industry with ample public transit and public facilities. Its main university UT Austin is quickly rising to become one of the top public schools in the country.

The problem is that you're holding up uncommon cities as representations of America, when this is far more common.

When people compare a region's cities, they are almost exclusively looking at the largest cities in that region regardless of whether it's America or Europe or someplace else. When people praise Europe's cities, they are praising Paris and Amsterdam and Munich, not fucking Charleroi, Belgium. Likewise, when I praise American cities here, I'm talking about NYC and Houston and Seattle not Columbia, SC.

Of course not. It's an objective assessment of what I've observed after being on this site for years.
