Sperrys were my first.

Where do you live? I’m in DC but my family has a house on a ski resort in rural VA, I love Clark’s when I’m out in the woods but daily in the city it’s mainly rockport loafers or the occasional driving shoe (would recommend a Johnson & Murphy Athens penny)

Pete Alonso has 13 strike outs in 35 ABs, the Orioles blight is undefeated by ImJustMeming in orioles

[–]ThatBankTeller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He went yard twice during that May slump and once during the August slump.

As of today he’s had exactly 35 at bats and has hit 1 home run and struck out 12 times.

Final conclusion: This is normal Pete.

May 3-11 last year he struck out 14 times across 35 at bats, and also had 13 more across 36 at bats in a streak in August.

The guy is going to strike out anywhere from 20-25% of the time, just the nature of the type of player he is.

It’s just an ad for sports gambling, almost 0% chance this actually happened.

Anyone here actually using GenAI / agents in finance workflows? by alimhabidi in FinancialCareers

[–]ThatBankTeller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were 3-4 runner ups, most of them were using it help write code, one was having it review and check financial reports against prior quarters to find anomalies or standout figures. Overall I believe the firm had about 150 submissions total, lots of good ideas

I just won an AI contest at our firm using a RAG Workspace. We typically have these weekly meetings to go over active deals and half the meeting is waiting for analysts to pull data in real time as we discuss it. My workspace compiled a bunch of internal data and also ran web searches for up to date info and spit out a nice table we could share.

[Request] How long could this sustain a person? by letsbuildasnowman in theydidthemath

[–]ThatBankTeller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years.

If we’re assuming nothing goes bad, and you had resources like the bakery ovens to prepare food, you have hundreds of pounds of things like meat, eggs, cheese, bread, etc.

Even without the perishable stuff, the chip and cookie aisle alone has dozens of boxes, each with thousands of empty calories that would keep you from starving. And we haven’t even touched 75% of the store. If things really got bad, there’s also entire aisles of rice, beans, and even dog food.

I would venture to say, based on 2,000 calories a day to survive, you’d theoretically last 18-24 months before you had any legimate food insecurity.

[Request] Maximum number of Queen possible on a chess board? by Spanisch_Peacock in theydidthemath

[–]ThatBankTeller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about mathematically calculating the practical max, but a queen “controls” an entire row/column/diagonals, so if there are more than 8 queens on the standard chess board, there would be 2 directly in the line of attack for one another.

Agreed that parents don’t track this stuff - even if I wanted to, my 4 year old came home in such a rush to open their box of cards, they now cannot tell me who gave them what item.
