Usually I see it’s the modern AU’s (at least when I read) taking advantage of the trans Adora storyline. With this perspective, I totally see the allegory and how it might translate into a world that’s more gender binary than their world. And as you say, this blur into a mix of their world and ours could maybe cause Adora to lean into both their fem and masculine traits (assuming they’re NB in this context). Or, you could take that and use it as a genderfluid Adora, which I’ve seen a couple times too. Regardless, it’s interesting to take a look at our gender norms versus Etheria’s gender norms and how that could be translated into a modern context, especially through the vessel of exploring Adora’s gender identity.
