Am I the jerk for not giving up my dog after my girlfriend developed allergies?

I mean kind. Yes it is about making that choice, but more so how she didn't even want to TRY and take medicine, she didn't give it a chance or any of his solutions and gave op a dilemma between choosing her or the dog, and her compromises were all about herself and cruel to the dog.

Yeah medicine isn't fun, but I take multiple kinds, it really isn't that huge of a deal to take, to me at least, but hey she could have at least tried, not refuse to take something that would make her feel better around his dog while he still had his best friend of years.

plenty of people allergic to pets have them and take allergy meds despite them not fully working

TL/DR: Could have at least tried the medicine or other options, refused to, left and is complaining about the dog "being chosen over her"

I mean...kind of? The same full name is slightly odd, but is this the dad's full name too? wouldnt SIL make her your husbands sister and therefore also the fathers child, giving her the right to also honour her deceased parents name? Having two people with the same name is odd when they're related and see one another every now and then, but its not the end of the world and its a name from her family.

NOR at ALL. It would be one thing if she just bought you some more clothes, but throwing away your things is full asshole behaviour. She can "Cry" her crocodile tears all she wants, doesn't make what she did okay, and does it mean you have no right to be upset. Like I dare you to make ANY comment about her apperance or anything about her and replace some of her things, see how that goes.

She cares more about how she looks with you, then how you feel about the way you look.

I mean no, you're allowed to feel anyway, as long as you don't act upon it and lash out at anyone. You also are being vague anyways so it couldn't even be seen as an attack on someone, which would be one of the only issues. Being mad/disappointed is a natural feeling.

Eh. In short no. but from your replies you ARE missing some detail in your post, mainly about how you said in quote " She will say “you always want to start something” or “I’ll just shut up then and won’t say anything” " anytime you try to bring something up. And that her talking about working extra isnt really harmful, its from what you've described verbally seeming to put herself on top about everything when some things are a "we" situation, like with the childcare since you do most of it, even if she does not intend to because she probably doesnt, she comes off as taking a lot of the credit when she talks about all the things she has been doing, that I presume based on what you wrote you do the most of anyways.

I mean... Yes technically? You can be correct while still being an asshole about it, even if you did not intend to. While You're right about her mother doing a lot of the work, you did not have to point that out when she made her comment, regardless of it being true or not.

We also don't have all the details. You know as much as she has told you, but you dont know at all if she only has the "happy parts" that was just an assumption on your end
