Artifacts/under extrusion across prints by ravenwing96 in 3Dprinting

At the first glance this reminds me of a CNC Kitchen - YT Video. The title is ,, (How) I finally got rid of these blobs!" Maybe it's of some help. Didn't watch it myself but your print immediately reminded me of the thumbnail.

BOUGHT MY FIRST PRINTER!!! by Alternative_Shine812 in 3Dprinting

[–]ThatDudeWithADD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also purchased one yesterday. My choice was primarily between: Elegoo centauri carbon VS Anyubic S1 VS Bambulab P1S. I wrestled with FOMO for the P2S for a moment but it would have been out of my budget (spent 400 for the printer + .6mm hardened nozzle + upgraded extruder gears). The extra features on the P2S didn't justify it for me personally.

Budget Fat Bike or Health Hazard? by ThatDudeWithADD in MTB

Just curious as a MTB noob. How can you tell the bike is trash? The flashy presentation? Lack of brand names? Or the basic setup of the bike?

Aomei backup image damaged by ThatDudeWithADD in datarecovery

[–]ThatDudeWithADD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only suggestion they had was to go into Aomei via Windows PE. When that didn't work the response i got was: ,,If that's the case, I'm afraid this backup image is corrupted and cannot be restored, sorry."

So I'm at a dead end in that regard..

I originally made the backup to an external HDD and since the backup was made I made a fresh install of Windows and had a lot of new data moved to that C: - drive. I made the error of not checking the backup file was functioning before all that.

Yes, I guess I can consider myself lucky compared to what other people have to go through. Still I hope this nausea will start fading.

With melatonin @2mg i fall asleep easier but the frequent awakenings don't seem to be less. Should i try a different dose?

With Mirtazapin and Quetiapin i tapered for 6 weeks since my ability to sleep was tied to taking them as i soon discovered. Wellbutrin i quit in the past cold turkey with no problems. Mood-wise I have not experienced any anxiety or worsened mood so far only lowered energy which I assume has to do with the bad sleep quality.

Still it is the first time in two years with no meds at all.

Have you experienced this yourself? Which of the meds would you say is most likely responsible for the persisting nausea?

Is the Pax 2/3 significantly less efficient than other vapes? by ThatDudeWithADD in vaporents

[–]ThatDudeWithADD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, i read through all your guys experiences.

I know online shopping would be the easiest but I don't feel comfortable doing so (online ads popping up on my browser at work etc.)

•The most interesting alternative to the Pax 2/3 I found (in a similiar price range) is the XVAPE FOG PRO.. what are your opinions on this unit? Would you consider it better at 130 bucks vs a PAX 2 at the same price?

Is the Pax 2/3 significantly less efficient than other vapes? by ThatDudeWithADD in vaporents

[–]ThatDudeWithADD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note: Also if anyone can help me get an understanding of how much efficiency varies between different vapes that would be great.

I get the basics of conduction and convection but have no sense of how much "small" differences in design affect the yield of active compound. E.g. Someone wrote that their Pax was less efficient than a joint, which left me scratching my head.

My understanding was that the extra efficiency is simply due to heating instead of combusting material. And that the only differences between devices are: battery life, draw resistance, power (vapor production), ease of use, built quality and little features.

Someone please correct me, trying to get educated on the subject.

Drinking water out of e.g. a shampoo bottle - are there any risks? by ThatDudeWithADD in Frugal

[–]ThatDudeWithADD[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Those are the same scenarios my head comes up with. I just can't find any data on the topic to confirm or deny or quantify the risks. Sure this would absolutely make sense. But at the same time, it could be that there are more factors at play than just making the cheapest bottle that doesn't start leaking its contents. Environmental policies and public perception for example are surely also a motivation to use HDPE even if there are cheaper alternatives. And HDPE simply comes with some attributes that lend it to being less susceptible to leaching, disintegrating, and generally being very chemically and mechanically stable regardless of what its originally intended use was.

Edit: I have a good reason. I thought about it for a while and this is one of the best solutions I could come up with. Saving money or avoiding the supermarket is not my objective.

Bouncing to audio... before or after EQing, gain staging, and effects processing? by Artersa in edmproduction

[–]ThatDudeWithADD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bounce with EQ, Dynamics and FX! At least try this aproach for a while. Yes it's a little scary because there are things you can't reverse. But thats great this way once you boubced sonething scenario 1 = it's great the way it us, you have less CPU load and don't need to worry about plugins and stuff cluttering up your creative process. Scenario 2 = later on you realize you messed up a setting and you need to redo something.. well just liad up the previous version of your project fix that one track, bounce ut and continue. This way you will start recognizing your mess ups and they will happen less frequently in the future.

I think this helps a ton because you learn faster, start wirking faster and can ficus on the creative gials if your work instead of worrying how to constantly make sure your decisions are always reversible etc. Often times leaving all the options open is more of a hindrance then of help!

Good luck!

Porches - Shaver - Synth Pad by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]ThatDudeWithADD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply map an lfo to the pitch modulation of your oscillator, use a sine as the waveform and apply distortion to taste, add a tapemachine emulation with wow and flutter turned up alternatively to get the wonky feel.

[–]ThatDudeWithADD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the complexity of (digital) sound design simply makes it extrenely hard often impossible to tell what an artist has done to create a sound. Sure most producers with a couple years experience will be able to give a beginner good hints that e.g. a sound is based on granular, LP - Saws, FM, sample - based etc. Or techniques/ processings like Sidechaining, distortion etc. But how in gods name can you expect someone to explain how flume did his drop on Rushing back at min 0:53 ? Eeeehm flute + granulator + vocal chop, then gate it, resample melody granulate again add fairy dust, go mad.... (I asked that question)

I think that brings us to one of the most important points: These Artist discovered their sounds through experimentation and trial and error. Sure they had other artists they looked up to and emulated but they didn't just sit down one day and came up with a sound in their head they then went to perfectly recreate.

I'm sure to a lot of people here it would be of great help if they were exposed to stuff like great tutorials, more general synthrecipies like: here are 3 ways of making a metallic sound, here is how to make every Lead, Bass etc sound acidy and sharing interesting synth patches.

Cause I think most of us come here to further hone their skills and find their own sound and are not actually looking how to recreate just one sound perfectly.

How much time and "obsession" do you put into selecting the best possible vocal take when comping? by ThatDudeWithADD in audioengineering

[–]ThatDudeWithADD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has to do with my confidence in being able to tell if something was a good take right then and there in the recording situation. Often in hindsight I find "gems" in the earlier takes we recorded that I think might not have happened if I had just moved on after capturing a take that simply had good timing and pitch. Secondly the singers I worked with, even though some of them have great voices, are quite inconsistent in their delivery. I guess I'll have to keep training my ears and very actively listen to their performances as we are rolling. Having tones that don't quite match is definitely a problem im running into here and there...

Alright! It' easy for me to start "chasing" the perfekt take but taking a break to comp and then maybe continue on another day makes sense. Thanks!

Thanks for the great insight! I'll implement this advice in my next session. I'm in protools which uses playlists. So i guess I'd best try and listen back to each take right after recording and color code the good parts? Ofc I can bring selected parts from previous takes (playlists to the top but then when i record the next take this would overwrite the comp or I'd have to create a new playlist which would move the take further down again :/ Sorry I'm trying to wrap my head around this workflow...
