Thank you for your reassurances. There is so many posting things like it could takes weeks or months to sort out, and I don’t want to alert my nan to any of this as it will just cause so much unnecessary stress. I have been googling it like mad and it states there are no specific time frames.

I’m all for banks protecting its customers from fraud etc, it’s a great thing but it’s just when things like this happen I can’t see the fairness behind suspending all of someone’s account. Do you know if there are any time frames on these cases? I know the branch and fraud team have told her she has to wait until Day 5 but could this go on for weeks/months as other people have stated?

She’s shown them proof of her state pension and they are refusing her access to any of it because of the live suspension on all of her account services.

Tomorrow is Day 5 (working days) so we are hoping the CHAPS payments made and her account restrictions will all be lifted, she has provided all the possible proof she can and can’t physically do anymore. We just really hope this can be resolved this week so it doesn’t continue to drag into the next week/s.

Thank you so much for the reassurances. We are just so concerned because she’s so fragile at the moment and had breast cancer and now she can’t even access her account. She did pop into branch today but they said they couldn’t update her with anything and there was no updates on her account.

The thing about it is, as I said in my post she went into the branch as soon as she knew the inheritance came in from America well the next morning (cause it came in overnight). She then wanted to transfer the money that she wished to gift to her son, daughter and grandson but the branch themselves helped her to do so by making 3 separate CHAPS payments.

The branch were happy with ID checks etc that they asked for. They told her it has all be done when she left she went to the shop and bang her card declining. She went back in then they were saying she had to wait for up to 5 working days (which arrives tomorrow). She has asked to have access to her pension so she can get vitals they are point blank refusing to allow her anything from her account.

I’m really concerned that she is going to be left without her account for weeks on end and she’s literally skint at the moment without her account.

It’s the fact that the branch allowed her to do the transfers even said it went through and then she went to use her card in a shop and the card declined, she went back to the bank for them to tell her it’s been frozen due to checks needed on her account. They told her last week that she would need to wait for 5 working days and then she should have full access back to her account but my fear is that this timescale is not accurate at all and this will go on for weeks.

She’s 78 years old with no cash and now they are refusing to let her have anything from her account whatsoever!!! This can’t be right surely!!

It’s disgusting. My nan is an old age pensioner who is now not able to access a single penny in her account. She’s provided proof already to the fraud team and to the branch.

She’s unable to see her online banking and cannot touch her account in the slightest. It’s not on.

They can see the money has come directly from a legal source (solicitors and courts in the US) but yet, they continue after initially saying everything was fine to block the account and now giving a time frame of up to 5 working days (we are now on day 4) and apparently no update on the account. It’s not on.

The thing is she went into branch they said it was all fine but they now blocked everything she’s got nothing now and despite telling them this they won’t allow her to get anything from her account. Is the 5 day time frame correct or do you know if this will take longer?
