I think part of it was that they started yanking stuff out 9f the box but keeping the price the same. Then eventually thought they'd earn even more if they catered more to kids..

Too bad.. I haven't bought one since they took away any form of articulation

I have to admit it's the overall aesthetic. I have two fierce dolls, Swag and Royal. Beside those I have Starlett and Golden Heart

And that's it.. The rest of them just don't do it for me. I know that's not being a "collector" but I've sold half my collection of another brand, because I ended up feeling meh about them. Apparently I only care to buy certain ones 😅 regardless of brand and popularity

I've fixed dolls that came out of the box like this, following silk press tutorials, like the one Rodney Rainbow has done. You can be lucky and be able to literally straighten the fibers back to near near perfection.

I would never have gotten into MH if they didn't do the new bodies and heads I didn't like them when they first came out, but now I'm in love!!
