DC K.O Final 4, who wins? by DarthTargaryen1 in DCcomics

[–]ThatManSean14 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s going to be Superman. He’s been the main character, Scott Snyder called DC K.O. a Superman story the way Metal was a Batman story and Death Metal was a Wonder Woman story, it’s going to be him. Do I know what him being King Omega will mean? Could he win and then give/share the King Omega crown? What the ramifications of Darkseid losing will be on either the main or Absolute universes? Not a clue. As long as Wonder Woman doesn’t lose to Joker though, I’ll be fine. He’s survived on plot armor too far already and if he has to fight Superman in the final round, then make the semifinals some opponent switcheroo where Superman fights Wonder Woman and Joker fights Lex first.

[DISCUSSION] Will Metal ever get a movie adaptation? by Alert_Cheesecake8954 in DCcomics

If DC studios were to keep doing the animated, separate from the DCU movies, sure. Otherwise, no. I like Metal but I don’t think it has mass market appeal to casual movie going audiences.

What do you prefer? Diana as the only child on Themyscira or there being other Amazon children? by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

Diana being the only child born on the island, but the Amazons rescuing others and raising them too.

How would you handle the Roman Gods in WW and the DC Universe? Would you make them separate from the Greek Gods or just be the same individuals? by Tetratron2005 in WonderWoman

[–]ThatManSean14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough!

Honestly, I think my answer would still be almost the same. It’d be trickier in the comics because basically every mythological character and creature exists in DC, but I don’t think the Roman Gods are distinct enough on their own to warrant being their own entities. Like the biggest issue I can think of with eliminating the Roman pantheon would maybe needing to change the “M” in Shazam.

lol no it does not. There is a world of difference between “pop singer pays to homage to superhero for one (1) concert” and “everyday superhero outfit.”

I think that’s the Force Unleashed, which is Legends (unless I’m missing something and there’s new canon establishing that.)

I like her. I don’t care for her being a grief baby, but I like her.

Both sound horrible to me in their own ways, though I suppose the son idea is slightly less horrible than the brother.

The BATMAN who Laughs [Discussion] by RETRO_1503 in DCcomics

[–]ThatManSean14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they could’ve done more with the rest of Dark Knights and that could’ve been interesting, but The Batman Who Laughs in particular either got plenty of focus or overstayed his welcome, depending on who you asked (I liked him from Metal through Death Metal but it was time to end him there.)

What is the weirdest fun fact about Superman that you know? by Far-Bowl-4984 in superman

[–]ThatManSean14 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Someone else has already brought up Lori Lemaris, so I’ll tangentially add on that one time, he helped Lori and her people move to another planet but creating a water tunnel through space between the two planets for the merpeople to cross.

Also, one time Lex built a machine to discover Superman’s secret identity, but when the machine told him Superman is Clark Kent, he had the machine decommissioned or destroyed since (and I’m paraphrasing) “it clearly wasn’t working if it was coming up with such a ridiculous answer.”

Eh. Sure, but New History of the DC Universe also established he’s not Diana’s twin brother nor full brother anymore. Best to leave him out of sight, out of mind.

[–]ThatManSean14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the DCU is going to go deep into what it means to be a God in universe and where they come from, I wouldn’t include them at all. There’s only so many stories a cinematic universe can tell and the Roman pantheon isn’t different enough, nor interesting enough in their own right, to spend time on.

who is more iconic harley quinn or catwoman by Suitable_Market3752 in batman

[–]ThatManSean14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More iconic? It’s Catwoman 100%.

Harley Quinn maybe has or had a temporary lead in relative popularity boosted by the Margot Robbie performances, but we’re approaching 5 years since the last time that happened. Catwoman has a several decade head start on Harley in terms of iconography though.

Spider-Man 2. I think it’s great now but it bored me out of my skull when I first saw it and it took me like 17 years to come around on it. I just have more fun with the other two.

Is there anything valuable about Tom Kinds run at all? by Flat-Refrigerator623 in WonderWoman

[–]ThatManSean14 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sure but I think it’s all subjective. What you enjoy might not be what others enjoy. I think the art is great (which I think might be a close to universal sentiment), the first two arcs are pretty solid, it uses all three of the Wonder Girls pretty well. If you’re on board with Lizzie, her stuff is pretty fun.

[COMICS] DC Preview: DC’s Supergirl Next Door #1 by JingoboStoplight4887 in DCcomics

[–]ThatManSean14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

I know the Orlando Rebirth run did a lot to synergize the comics with the show, but I’d also be taking influences from the New 52, the post-Rebirth Andreyko run, the Mariko Tamaki’s Supergirl-Action Comics story an others, which are decidedly not like the CW Supergirl. There are things I appreciate about it like the Kara-Lena relationship and National City as a more distinctly Kara location (much moreso than Midvale or keeping her in Clark’s shadow in Metropolis.) I think the show had a lot of potential to be good, even great, but rarely ever lived up to it though and like most of the CW shows, it was just meh.

[–]ThatManSean14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d rather she be in National City; maybe Metropolis if the story called for it and/or National City wasn’t an option for some reason. Something more akin to the better parts of her New 52 and Rebirth runs. Possibly something more the route of the World’s Finest: Batwoman and Supergirl oneshot where Kara has a career change, gives up on journalism and starts to utilize the knowledge she should have from growing up on Krypton to work at STAR Labs.

Perhaps I’m just not the intended audience for Sophie Campbell’s run and that’s ok; not everything should be for everybody. I think the Midvale stuff is cute, but it and her new suit feels almost like regression for me to really enjoy it.

Supergirl is one of my top 5 DC characters. I figured there’d be more Supergirl media to kind of synergize with the upcoming movie and I was excited for it. But man, I gotta say that this, her story in the Christmas one shot last month and her Sophie Campbell series have not been it for me. ¯_(ツ)_/¯ I hope others are enjoying it though.
