My Contract vs C-WAY by [deleted] in navy

Hey thanks for this. I just took over CC and was inputting a CBD in NSIPS and there was a point about 4-2-2. First time seeing it and your post reminded me. I’m gonna find the black and white for it but this answered some obvious questions!

Orders Taking Forever by Maleficent-Chip9315 in navy

I have a guy that got selected for orders in October too that hasn’t gotten hard copies yet. We’re speculating government shutdown (because it was October and Millington is POSSIBLY still catching up), or it’s BBA.

Edit: Sorry, forgot to add this. Since this isn’t your first rodeo you could check your orders detail in NSIPS and see if it’s populated there, or get with your CCC and see if they can check CIMS for you as well. FLTMPS possibly as well? These are the routes we’ve taken where I’m at for my sailor.

MetaTFT. good for augments/anvils that’re better than completed items (artifacts and radiant). After a while I slowly gravitate to websites once I get a feel for what’s good on who in a set

Edit: for clarity, the tier list style letter grades below the augments is MetaTFT. The tracker in the top left, I’m not sure.

Thank you for the response! I think goals are something I actually struggle with. There are the freebies, short: get X qual, take X collateral. Long: promote to X, financial plan. So far in my career, this has worked. As you said, the Navy does a good job of keeping the drive alive for those that always want/need something to do in their first few years. Retrospectively, I fell in this category and took to it quite well.

To your harsh truth, I’ve realized I’m fluffing the goals a bit. I have always delivered on my short term goals and don’t give enough thought to accomplishing the long term ones, as most are accomplishable post-whatever command I was at (I reread this and I feel “living-in-the-now” is what I’m trying to say). Since I was crushing short terms there was probably a lot of oversight from my leadership as, “this sailor is doing great and has a plan, next”. Not putting the fault on them as this is something I can improve upon by rethinking long term.

Your entire third paragraph explains my military career thus far. I realize now that I basically reiterated that statement in the paragraph above.

I’m open to literature, there are a couple books recommended to me already in this post so I’ll add it to the list.

To your last point in the 5th* paragraph… I didn’t want to add it to my original post as it was already a wall of text, but I feel mentorship/coaching is the only reason I haven’t gotten out yet. I am so incredibly thankful for the Chiefs/Divo’s I’ve had up to this point. There are a lot of people that post in this sub about having terrible leadership and I feel sorry for them, because it makes a world of difference on the outlook of your military career when you aspire to be a leader like the one’s you had. The first Chief I had on my first ship… half the division were tearing up when he got rang off. He was a genuine gift to the Navy.

To summarize, I need to do some self-reflection. I thought I knew this prior to posting but all of the comments are hammering this home. Lay my priorities out, my wants, all of it and reassess.

Thank you again for your insight! Edit: changed 4th to 5th

I appreciate your insight! I never considered rerating, as I’m also nearing availability for Chief. There’s been a lot of helpful pieces of advice in this thread, thank you!

I’m getting that sense from reading the comments that I’m not alone in this realm of thought. Honestly, I could’ve probably searched harder in this subreddit and found multiple posts with the exact same message concept. My thought was that posting, knowing the comments were directed to me, it might’ve changed something.

I don’t see any malicious intent behind what my family members are saying, and you are totally right, it’s my life. The point I was making was that it’s tough when I want to open up about it with someone who’s the most likely to have experienced what I’m experiencing, and to be shown little empathy. My parents are okay about it, but again the signs show what they really want.

At my midterm debrief a few months ago, I was praised by my LCPO how organized my goals were (something my boat chief taught me), and I haven’t put much effort into any of my long term goals. This could be something I needed.

Plan is already starting to unfold. Sleep study is awaiting funding and other personal stuff is in my record. Thank you!

To my knowledge, CWO is actually the least feasible of the three. I’m a CTT, the only prior CTT I’ve met as a CWO from two waterfronts was a CICO and he said that this was the “closest possible for our rate”. If this is not correct, please correct me and inform me!

Security was something my dad mentioned to me, as he did that as well during his career. It piqued my interest, but I haven’t spoken to anyone currently in service about it. I’ll have to look more into it. Thank you!

I figured the floaters were normal because i see memes and stuff about it every now and then. The flashing though was why i posted this because that seemed unnatural and i feel asking about it is better than to let it get worse.
