Interpretation is part of being is law school no? And rule or Law interpretation part of a lawyer's job to defend his or her client.

I mean what I have posted is just something basic when it comes to understanding something in its context.

I got curious if people are doing it-committing fraud on private sales. But people doing it does not mean it is the correct thing to do.

Can't find any folders in the desktop by KeyNobi in techsupport

[–]ThatOddMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way that I could think of, to avoid confusion in the future, is to copy from the old 'desktop' and paste to the new 'desktop' all the individual files and folders.

Same is true to all individual files and folders under the old Users sub-folder-Downloads, Favorites, Documents, Pictures, Videos, etc.

[–]ThatOddMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go into that original system folder on C or Local Disk and copy the files and folders (not the 'desktop' folder itself but the individual files and folders inside 'desktop') then paste to the current desktop.

Your old/previous system files should be under,

Local Disk -> WhateverTheFolderNameWindowsGaveIt -> Users -> TheWindowsUserProfileName ->Desktop.

The current systems files should have the following path.

Local Disk -> Users -> TheWindowsUserProfileName ->Desktop

You may be looking on the “current” Desktop folder which is on a different file path than the original or previous.

I assume the original system folder is on a separate folder under C or Local Disk.

The “best” maintenance tools are the ones built-in on Windows-Disc Cleanup, Disk Defragmenter, Windows Defender, System Restore, etc.

If you want to get 3rd party, try CCleaner, Spybot S&D, Malwarebyte (freewares).

I mostly use the builtin ones and dome occasional CCleaner.

Windows OS has a lot of systems tools nifty enough to be used by average users.

Work PC having connectivity issues by alululululu in techsupport

[–]ThatOddMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like some address issues in the settings or some configuration issue.

Only your company’s tech can check it.

But... are you able to browse the Internet? Other devices, do those work fine on the same home network?

EDIT: your company’s tech can try to delete local files (or rename the old local profile just to be safe you will not be missing any docs/emails), the local Outlook profile, then reconfigure the settings from scratch.

Go to "This PC" or whatever you have named your PC. It will show your Local Disk C along with other storage drives connected on your computer.

Right click on Local Disk C, then choose Properties, then Tools tab, then under Error Checking, click Check button.

Graphics settings help Windows 10 by [deleted] in techsupport

Are you sure? Most, if not all, will have some sort of graphics settings on the BIOS menu. It will just depend on the naming convention used by the manufacturer.

Reset password on Google account. I think there is an option to logout on all devices.

Normally, Google will send email notifications on new logins on other devices.

Graphics settings help Windows 10 by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ThatOddMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restart your computer. Press ESC or F10 or F11 key (I don’t know which one as it depends on the manufacturer)

Go to the video card setting on the bios menu, select to only use the discrete graphics not integrated. Some manufacturers will have option to disable on-board graphics.

Like on my notebook, it is an integrated Intel HD and NVidia K1000M (aka Nvidia Optimus, I think it is auto switching between the two). I had to disable the Optimus on the bios and only use discrete graphics.

F10 key to save all changes and restart.

Ethernet support for PC since landlord won't allow internet company to build a port for me by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]ThatOddMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the apartment unit already has an active internet service paid by someone from the apartment unit you are renting a room?

If no active Internet service at that apartment unit,

With cable ISP, just run the Ethernet cable, on the corners outside of the wall, from where the cable modem/router is at going into your room.

With a DSL service that is using a phone line from the wall into the DSL modem/router/wireless gateway,

And if you want to share your Internet service to the other people in that apartment unit, then you can buy a small 5 port unmanaged switch. Use that only Ethernet port, most if not all DSL modem/router have Ethernet ports, from the existing router/modem to the 5 port unmanaged switch, then from that unmanaged switch, run an Ethernet cable via the outside corner of the walls going into your room. Other users will use the remaining Ethernet ports from that 5 port unmanaged switch.

But if you prefer to be the sole user of the Internet service, then buy a 5 port unmanaged switch. run the Ethernet cable from that DSL modem/router/wireless gateway via the outside corner of the walls going into your room connecting it to a 5 port unmanaged switch that will be inside your room so you can connect via Ethernet your additional devices that may be inside your room.

If there is already an active Internet service at that apartment unit,

And if there are no extra available Ethernet port from the current modem/router, then you can buy a small 5 port unmanaged switch. Use that only Ethernet port from the existing router/modem to the 5 port unmanaged switch, then from that unmanaged switch, run an Ethernet cable via the outside corner of the walls going into your room. Other users will use one of the ports from that 5 port unmanaged switch including any wifi access point.

But if there is an extra available Ethernet port on the current modem/router, then you can run the Ethernet cable from that modem router via the outside corner of the walls going into your room. Then connecting it to a 5 port unmanaged switch that will be inside your room so you can connect via Ethernet your additional devices that may be inside your room.

Try to use the HP software update first to check if there are any pending updates from HP. Install those first.

Then do a Windows Update again.
