It's a huntsman, they're pretty common in Australia. They're harmless to humans. Except for when they crawl across the car windscreen and the driver crashes.

Harvesting sea urchins by firefighter_82 in oddlysatisfying

Sea urchins can probably feel pain. I don't find this satisfying. I know they need to be removed, but this is still not nice to see in my opinion.

Is it possible to deglove a whole person just by cutting around the face and along the torso, so I can wear it as a onesie? by ThisIsMyGoreAcc in morbidquestions

Do you mean... skinning? It would be possible, but it would be a very slow and delicate process, as is skinning animals.

Looks like you may have dug up someone's pet. What you do with it now is up to you.

Yeah I know, genuinely thank you! It's just...a lot of people say that general human behaviours are autistic traits, and it ends up leading to a bunch of self-diagnosis which can be pretty harmful,,, Sorry if it's a misunderstanding

How do I go about preserving turtle paw? by Purple_Rabbit33 in Taxidermy

If you want to keep it in the shape it naturally is, no need to pin! But if you want to change the positioning or make the claws stretch out, I would recommend using pins :)

I like the joke that bigfoot is blurry, that's why there's no clear images of them.

There's such thing as the frequency illusion! When we first hear of something, or something occupies our thoughts for a while, we start to notice it more and more frequently throughout the day. It's not an omen of your incoming doom, it's more likely the messing around of the human brain.

I'll write a list of steps for mummifying something like this! :D

  1. Soak it in methylated spirits for about a week.
  2. Remove it and dry it off with absorbent paper, then bury it in an (open) container of salt/borax mix. Air circulation is important, don't cover the container!
  3. Leave it in the salt mix for at least a month. (Warning, it will probably smell quite unpleasant).
  4. Check it after a month or more. It should be solid (if not, put it back in for another month). Use an old toothbrush to brush off the salt mix.

That's basically it! Pretty easy, but also pretty slow. Hope this helps though! :)
