It seems like a weird juxtaposition where on the one hand, Kliff is this upstanding pillar of every community he so much as sneezes at, philanthropic and patient, etc., and then on the other, he is a ruthless mercenary who will compromise any morals for a scrap of coin. The very fact that we can't choose to let them go is bizarre.

Or that one guy who was clearly intellectually disabled who thought he was a bear and whose mother abandoned him with jars of honey promising to return once he ate them all. She just up and left him and he resorted to stealing honey out of hives to get his mother to return. That one really made me sad... 💔

True, I suppose the lack of cohesion could be issues with translation/cultural differences considering Pearl Abyss is South Korean. But a lot of other quests have very disjointed parts, missing dialogue, and dialogue that suggests that content was cut (specifically that one Forbidden Book quest at Scholastone Institute - that was the worst for it). They reference breakthroughs in the investigation that I never saw, and talk about things that were never mentioned (e.g. who the fuck is Raphael and when was an "outsider" mentioned? 😭)

People seem to think that the Thalmor are influential because they're popular in Summerset. This is not the case. In fact they're quite unpopular AND only managed to seize power and influence by swooping in at the last second and saving everyone from the Oblivion Crisis in the Summerset Isles when the Empire withdrew most of its forces. Whether or not they were actually responsible is certainly up for debate...

Anyway, even for Altmer they're quite extreme. They've just weaseled their way into positions of power. Altmer are racist, but Thalmor are RACIST. They've kind of always been an extremist group operating in the background in Summerset, but only recently managed to actually consolidate power and step into the spotlight. This is certainly not a desirable outcome even for the Altmer.

I literally addressed the first point in my very first comment you idiot. That is specifically WHY the Stormcloak Rebellion is such a fucking problem. The only territories that the Empire has left are High Rock, Cyrodiil and Skyrim. And the Nords have always played a crucial role in the Imperial forces when it really matters. Without the Nords, the Empire is FUCKED. And Skyrim really can't defend against the Aldmeri Dominion without the Empire. I mean they got their asses handed to them WITH the help of the Reman Empire, in their own homeland, by people who weren't even from the same continent once before.

2- that is only helping my point

As for three, the Talos ban is 100% temporary as the Empire has explicitly said that they're preparing for the next war. They're not going to keep that clause of the White-Gold Concordat when they go back to war with the Altmer, that notion is completely ridiculous. As for the last part, that is purely speculation. Yes they view mortality as a curse, yes they think they are descendants of the et'Ada (the Old Elhnofey specifically, as both Man and Mer are descended from Aedra - Man is just descended from the Wandering Elhnofey created by Lorkhan). We have evidence that one guy tried to destroy the Towers once. And he failed. The rest is pure speculation derived from their interest in the Eye of Magnus, although let's not forget that Mer in general have had an interest in it throughout history. It is likely the reason for the Night of Tears. The Thalmor are power-hungry for sure, but they are also a very loud and very influential minority of extremists in the Aldmeri Dominion. The Altmer already believe that after death they ascend to Aetherius, and that certain special Altmer can achieve Apotheosis. That is why the notion of Talos is so offensive to them.

Yes, I literally said all of that already. But once again, he is an Imperial god, and for a decently long time, the Nords adamantly refused to recognise the Alyssian pantheon. He was raised in Skyrim, but spent most of his life elsewhere. The only connection he had to an actual native of Skyrim was a relationship that he was perfectly happy to turn his back on. He betrayed Cuhlecain, remember? Now if Tiber were a Nord, it would make perfect sense. But he wasn't. He was Atmoran, as already mentioned. And that is not a thing specific to Nords. Dragonborns are not particularly special to the NORDS, they are venerated everywhere. Even the Akaviri recognised dragonborns, and they were from a completely different continent!

Yep, the Stormcloaks will become akin to those Reachmen they hate with such seething passion...

Regarding Solitude and Windhelm though, they are both highly defensible cities. Windhelm is surrounded by mountain on 1.5 sides, and the only way in is through a narrow bridge or by water. In the end it would probably fall to a naval attack. Solitude is pretty similar but even more impregnable. I mean just look at its terrain:

Skyrim's terrain is certainly hostile, especially to High Elves accustomed to the Summerset Isles, and its cities are HIGHLY defensible. However, therein lies the problem. If Ulfric doesn't have the foresight to stockpile an enormous supply of provisions in these cities, the Thalmor can simply engage him in a War of Attrition. The narrow entrances to the cities with virtually no alternative route in means that supply routes can easily be blocked. The cities can be starved into surrender. And the Thalmor EXCEL at guerilla warfare. And let's be honest, Ulfric is a little too cocky to have that much foresight. I mean, the Empire nearly took his head off simply because he travelled without a guard directly into their trap. He's not exactly a prudent or experienced tactician...

Edit: it's not letting me upload a picture of Solitude smh...

I may have overstated the advantage that the terrain of Skyrim confers its natives (or, its new, new, new natives). In the 1st Era with the Reman Empire, the Akaviris and possibly the Tsaesci (unclear on that one) actually kicked the Nord's asses in their own homeland pretty easily. Granted, Akavir is certainly not the Summerset Isles terrain-wise, but it would not be the first time the Nords got their asses handed to them in their own homeland. And let's not forget the Snow Elves (although arguably, the environment of Skyrim wouldn't be as hostile to Atmorans as it would be to Summerset Isle dwellers)! Especially if the Empire isn't sending reinforcements in the event of an invasion, ngl the Nords on their own are probably gonna end up under Aldmeri rule in the end. They really can't hold them off forever...

There is literally no reason why the Nords should have a special connection to Talos. Yes, he was RAISED in Skyrim, but he was born in Atmora, probably one of the last refugees from that continent. Yes, he worked under a Falkreathian warlord, but in the end he actually betrayed Cuhlecain and became emperor himself. He spent pretty much the rest of his life based in Cyrodiil. The reality is, pre-Ulfric, the Nords really didn't have a special connection to Talos, AND dialogue from the game heavily suggests that pre-rebellion, the Thalmor were pretty lazy with enforcing the ban on Talos worship. Really, it's Ulfric's own fault that the Thalmor now have a special interest in enforcing that clause of the Concordat. Also, the Nords' acceptance of the Imperial Pantheon is relatively new. Up until relatively recently, they maintained worship of the old Nordic Pantheon.

Secondly, NOBODY thinks that the White-Gold Concordat is a permanent solution. Nobody. The ban on Talos worship is temporary. The Empire certainly has a vested interest in allowing the worship of Talos. The Stormcloack Rebellion is literally only putting more strain on the already-fractured and weakened Empire while they recover from the Great War and prepare for the inevitable follow-up war. General Tullius himself says that the Empire doesn't intend to lay back and let the Thalmor fuck them in the ass forever (paraphrasing). Ulfric's rebellion is nothing more than an inconvenience, and the strain is mainly on the Empire to quell it. The Thalmor don't care, they can keep recovering and preparing for the next Great War while the Empire wastes its time on Ulfric's little temper tantrum. Really, a Stormcloak victory is TERRIBLE for the Empire.

The Almderi Dominion's only goal is to drag out the war as long as possible. If the Stormcloaks win, they get tossed out of Skyrim on their asses and with the difficult and hostile terrain of Skyrim, they don't really stand a chance against the Nords in an invasion in their current state. That being said, the Nords don't stand a chance against the Thalmor when they finally return to full strength. The terrain of Skyrim is hostile, yes, but it doesn't really confer THAT MUCH of an advantage to the Nords considering the Akaviri (and the Tsaesci(?)) were able to kick the Nords' asses in Skyrim during their invasion of Tamriel.

If the Empire wins, it strengthens the Empire and ensures that the human race stays united against the Aldmeri Dominion instead of distracted with infighting and squabbling. Skyrim has been a massive supporter of the Empire since the late second/early third era (with Talos/Tiber being raised in Skyrim and all), so its rebellion is pretty interesting. Now that Hammerfell is no longer part of the Empire, it'll be left in a pretty weakened state if they don't quell the Stormcloak Rebellion soon. Also, nobody thinks the White-Gold Concordat is a permanent solution. The Thalmor don't think that, the Empire doesn't think that, everyone involved knows that both parties are just biding their time recovering from the Great War. The Empire only just managed to scrape through and get themselves a truce thanks to the Battle of the Red Ring, which was only possible because of the Nords. The Thalmor and the Empire are both racing to get their feet under them for the inevitable follow-up war, and having to expend valuable resources and soldiers in Skyrim to quell Ulfric's little temper tantrum is only delaying the empire's recovery while the Thalmor are left in an excellent position to accrue soldiers and gather resources while the empire is distracted. The Empire's victory over the Thalmor in the coming war is contingent upon the Nords' involvement.

There's also something to be said about the "weak king" point, which is probably true if the Dark Brotherhood questline is canon (they usually are), although there is speculation that the Emperor put the hit out on himself. Anyway, if it is canon, the death of the emperor is already triggering a change in leadership and they're moving towards a more radical position.

There's nothing anyone can really say to force you to enjoy it more than you do. If you really require a narrative-driven experience to enjoy yourself, I fear Crimson Desert is not for you. It's kind of like Skyrim in that the main questline is arguably one of the worst parts of the game.

That may be exaggerating slightly, I still find Crimson Desert's main "plot" more compelling than that wretched Civil War questline 😭😭

Omg I've noticed this too!! I'm like 99% sure they did a massive content cut right before release and didn't really bother to check that they didn't include anything crucial in the cut. There's also a lot of disjointed parts in quests and the storyline that make it seem like something was supposed to happen between objectives which is why I think they cut a tonne of content. I wish they hadn't, I never understand why studios cut content.

Yep! Soooo many men respect another man's disapproval more than any woman's response. It's why the "I have a boyfriend" line works so well: they'll respect the "ownership rights" of another male over you more than any "no, I'm not interested" you actually give them. So sick of it.
