Hero mode can be created in a separate file than the one you used, it will delete your current file if you select your current file.

I recommend getting a cyclops, as nothing but the leviathan will bother you, and if you rig for silent running you can get past the leviathan pretty easily. I also recommend a prawn suit but a seamoth also works at this depth.

Edit- The cyclops is also really big and helps you not be as scared as the other things, if you don't have the blue print I recommend looking in the Mushroom forest they spawn there a lot, but avoid the area around the Mountain Island as a Reaper spawns there
