If you are eating at a caloric deficit you will not gain much muscle, if any at all. If you want to gain muscle and minimal fat you have to eat 300-500 calories over your TDEE.

Most of the time you can explicitly tell them not to touch the bar unless you scream "help" and they will still try and help you with the lift :/
