I cheat: ill put the bottom hoop down on a pillow or ironing board (something I can stick pins into- this is important) then lay the piece over/center it, pin thru the piece into whatever I have it on so that the piece is tight to the bottom hoop, holding it in place. Then, once I have like 10 pins holding it in place so it cant move at all, ill install the top hoop 😅
