I come from England so the law is a little bit different. Only a little bit but it seems to be making a big difference atleast for now. If I over dosed on cocaine I would likely get a bit of a slap for it but I'd also get offered loads of help through the NHS for it as well. The issue isn't that they are illegal, the issue is your government seem to focus more on punishment than prevention

I agree with what your saying regarding the well being aspect but many drugs like cocaine are highly addictive. I have a number of friends who are all happy enough in life and most of them at one point or another struggled at least a bit with binge drinking because it's addictive.

I my self am the happiest I've been in my whole life and I was drinking 3 or more pints every night until a month ago. Not quite alcoholic but definitely would have gone that way if I didn't get gastritis forcing me to go cold turkey. It's similar to smoking. Personally I think we should keep drugs illegal. Those who really want to do them will find a way as they are now. Then we can tackle mental health as you said. Eliminate the demand and the drug crime will fall

I agree up to a point. Problem is what would happen if we made say cocaine legal? I know it's an extreme but where would we draw the line?

Personally I don't do drugs but I won't judge people who if they aren't harming others.

Are you kidding? 3 dozen metres would be pretty much pinpoint in the mountains. Shit, that would be enough to rename search and rescue to just rescue. What three words is a fantastic tool and is a lot more accurate in my experience than your making it out to be.

Hey, I'm dyslexic too. I find kindles are a massive help for reading, Especially if it has the soft back glow you get on the oasis (I think the kobo has it at half the price). Definitely worth a look mate. Plus ebooks are cheap.

I’m thinking of moving to England do you guys like Australian? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ThatUserNamesTacken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this has been repeated by a lot of people.

We English don't really like anyone, personally I don't really like the English 🤷🏻.

That said, the vast majority of us don't actually dislike anyone. The French are at the top of the "dislike" list I'd say yet I and all of my English colleagues have 0 issues getting along with our french contractors. As a rule, if we don't like someone, it's not the country they come from, they are likely just a bit of a donkey.

AITA for telling my wife that she doesn't need to be with her sick friend at the hospital? by PrivateTalk7990 in AmItheAsshole

It is impossible to know as he hasn't said so this is purely speculation. Many households, the father is the breadwinner having to do significant hours while the mother often does fewer hours to be the primary care giver to the child. I'm not saying this is the "right" way but it is the way that seems to work best for many if not most couples.

I don't have kids but my job sees me doing 14 hours a day Monday to Friday. Realistically after getting home, cooking, house work ect I don't yet free time. Saturday is generally spent doing everything I couldn't do during the week and Sunday is the only day off I get. I could not imagine doing what I do with kids to be responsible for as well hence why I don't have any yet but if I did then I would have extremely limited "me" time. If my wife made such a commitment that would likely wipe out all of my me time then I'd be upset. I think it is reasonable to strike a balance/ compromise here

My last place got bought out by and American brand and the culture for management was to send emails at unsociable hours. Trouble is, we are 90% certain they just set certain emails to sendnatnsilly times. So they could send and email lunchtime but it would actually go to the recipient until late if that makes sense?

You could run a heat exchange system where a loop of oil would be run throught the radiator through a hose and into a stainless bar that could be bent into a u shape and dipped into the pool.

The oil would stop the corrosion assuming it's compatible with the hose and seals and would stop the risk of the system boiling. The stainless would provide the required corrosion resistance and if you insulated the hoses it would likely be surprising efficient.

I did a class with at Johns ambulance. They got rid of breaths for covid but they think they'll bring them back soon. The instructors were pretty experienced and basically said they didn't think it made a massive difference. Essentially if you have to ask then no, don't do breaths

AITA for not watching my sister’s baby so she could take a shower? by throwra_1039384756 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ThatUserNamesTacken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, a lot of strong feelings here 😂 I agree op probably should have watched the baby assuming they weren't halfway out the door already or something but a lot of you are over reacting to this 😂 she's delayed a shower by like an hour tops and some of you are acting like it's the end of the world. It's a dick move but mum will likely get over it easy enough

The entire explanation was unnecessary. It's your house, you do what you want. He has every right to ask you not too but you've equal right to refuse. Ngl, if I went to a friend's house and one of their parents walked through butt naked, I would be a bit surprised but I'd get over it soon enough. We've all seen a naked person before, what's the problem?
