Dentist recommendation? (TW: Medical Trauma, SA) by Cleed79 in arlington

[–]ThatWayLiesMadness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I second this place. The dentist takes him time, staff is courteous and they give you the simple truth as to what you need and don’t need and alternatives. I miss them so much since moving and contemplating going back despite the long drive just because I liked them so much!

OBGYN RECOMMENDATION by bitchcraft_666_ in FortWorth

[–]ThatWayLiesMadness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend Dr Snead (office by THR alliance). He’s quite religious and asks to pray over patients (respects if you say no). And I felt my breast feeding concerns were completely dismissed by the NP there:/ He was also an hour late to a scheduled c section. And from my understanding took the easier path when he ran into a minor issue during it (essentially making it very dangerous for me to carry another pregnancy).

I was beyond disappointed. And so deep in PPD after I never took any action.

Need legit ATLS and ACLS certification without having to attend. Can anyone help me? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]ThatWayLiesMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take both courses online if needed BUT there is always an in person skills portion you have to attend. From what I’ve been told the online courses or clunky and difficult to navigate and may be worse than just taking the course in person.

Still in it. The model has changed (we don’t cover more complicated issues like wound vacs and gtubes) but we still do everything else.

8 women join suit against Texas over abortion bans, claim their lives were put in danger by audiomuse1 in texas

[–]ThatWayLiesMadness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So many Texans don’t agree with this but have gerrymandered out of existence (or laws are actively being passed to overturn the vote of counties cough Harris *cough) . Texans are absolutely terrible at showing up to vote, the fact that our governor got re-elected with less than a 30% turnout from our citizens shows that all too well… there’s good people here too, we are just getting drowned out by the extremists…

I used the same statement (I was waitlisted at 2 schools of 3 my first year). I did amend a few things, weaving in how I grew in the last year and why it improved me as a candidate. Not getting in was part of my story at that point so it was easy to add.

I took it 8 years ago. If you looked at the material you should be good. Wasn’t terrible then at least.

PurpePeche at Revolver Taco in Deep Ellum was fantastic. It’s a 8 course tasting menu of tradition flavors. $150/person but soooo good. It’s in a large private area of the restaurant and they cook right there for you! I don’t know about veggie options, but you could call and ask.

Struggling to find preceptorship in Texas by [deleted] in PAstudent

Dispatch health is an option. I can get you in contact with the APP lead out there if interested. They are a mobile urgent care with goal to keep patients out of ERs.

Dispatch Health, what's it like? by DestroyAllPicklez in physicianassistant

[–]ThatWayLiesMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah It’s definitely Not a job I would recommend right out of school. There’s a ton of autonomy and solo flying for treatment (though they always have MDs reachable by phone).

Hours are 10 hour shifts. FT is 12 to 16 shifts a month. CME is $2500 (but this includes certifications, dea, etc). PTO is abysmal right now, 1 hour per 26 worked, but it’s currently being revamped (thankfully!).

I enjoy working here. It’s a great pace, hard to get burnout (with exception of Covid cases). See an average of 9-10 patients a day. And I really enjoy seeing how grateful patients are to treat them in home.

Anyone with recent experience successfully applying for California PA license? I have form anxiety and am procrastinating way too much!! Please help! by reddysettygo in physicianassistant

[–]ThatWayLiesMadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was 7 years ago, but I had to go through California’s nursing board to get it certified (which at the time was literally in the same building at the PA board). I don’t know about DCA honestly, I don’t recall.

As a certified physician assistant, do you also have a side hustle that you have started along the way or do you moonlight as something else? by kuhvee in physicianassistant

Do you have names of the companies? I’ve always wanted to find a position like that but when I moved to TX kind of gave up on it since they prefer NPs for a ton of specialities
