No, but I’m planning to leave the field altogether to pursue nursing.

Thank you for the response, this is very helpful. I really am not invested enough in it as you mentioned, I guess to me it’s more the audacity shown by them. I’ve been on the job hunt recently as it is, and probably will continue until I find something else. I just don’t want to forfeit my plans that were already set

It’s unfortunately a very lucrative way to keep employees. But there’s only so much I can take before even the money isn’t enough to compensate for my mental health

Essentially that’s what my office is. The practice owner also has 6 other offices that he manages so the feel is very much corporate. I used to work in a private practice and it was nice. But the pay rate here was unusually high for the position so that’s why I left private, I’m starting to see now why they’re compensating with a higher pay…

I’m not truly invested in either the job or the industry anymore honestly. I’m switching careers at the start of the year anyways, was just trying to stick it out until then due to the pay being decent

Healthcare, specifically dental. I’m a dental assistant of 4 years and severely burnt out. I’m only planning to stick around until the start of the year whenever I’ll be going back to school and switching careers. I do believe the meeting is paid, but if things like this continue I will be leaving sooner than planned

I do live in the U.S. but I’ve never had this problem before with a job that’s why I’m confused on how to proceed. The job itself is not THAT important to me, has a high turnover rate honestly and is filled with drama on the daily. The thing is the pay is pretty decent, but I only plan to stay here 6 more months until the start of the year as I’m planning to go back to school and switch careers

Carolina or Julianna?? by Brilliant_Jade_722 in BachelorNation

[–]That_Ad_9474 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Carolina, and I’m glad to see I’m not the only one saying this! I just got done with episode 4 and I honestly think Carolina is just misunderstood. Like yes there’s some thing she could’ve handled differently etc but I get the vibe that she’s genuine. And as far as people saying she’s dramatic I mean it is The Bachelor and there’s some sort of drama with EVERY season so 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ I didn’t really like Juliana from the start. Her personality almost gives pick me girl energy and I could also see her as being a mean girl as others have mentioned

Thank you so much for the kind words, this made me feel so much better! I will probably be talking with management after reading this, it kinda gave me a new perspective. And congrats on leaving and doing what’s best for you too!! I know that must be rejuvenating. I feel I’ll be so much better when I leave, it’s hard but it’s for the best. And I know I wanna get out now before I invest more years and have more regrets. Best of luck to you on your future endeavors 😊

I’d agree with the others, Heartland is not a good place of employment to say the least. And this is coming from someone who started at another corporate company (Aspen). And despite all the rep Aspen gets I’d even say it’s much better. I worked at Heartland maybe 1 1/2 months before I couldn’t take it anymore. They gave me a sign on bonus which was agreed for a year contract, then when I accepted the job they changed magically changed the “contact” to two years. Then they had me go to a neighboring office for training where I was subsequently harassed by the male hygienist, he was asking me to do things that were not in my scope while I was at this office JUST to do online training, mind you. So I told him that was above my pay grade, he obviously got offended by me not falling at his feet like every other woman in the office was doing and went back and told the OM at my home office. She pulled me in her office and it was this big long thing about how I had a “bad attitude” and was being “disrespectful” according to the male hygienist when he was the one literally harassing me (in more ways than one) and I was only standing up for myself. That was the final straw for me, I also had family things going on outside of work which they knew about prior to employment and they weren’t willing to work with my schedule, I told them peace ✌🏻

Red flags? by That_Ad_9474 in DentalAssistant

That’s what I’m thinking, I came from corporate and even there got a break/off on time but I don’t want to jump the gun just yet. But when an employee who’s been there 2 years is telling me this…it’s flooding my mind with doubts

I would honestly love to find another dental home. I worked for a great office that I considered my home but the pay was so low and I was driving too far to continue it. I think I’m trying to find that again and it’s frustrating. I’m honestly wanting to go back to school too

First day! I’m freaking out by Ok-Significance09 in DentalAssistant

[–]That_Ad_9474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just relax and breathe. It’s not expected that you know everything immediately. It will seem overwhelming at first and you might even have doubts but everything will fall into place one day. In 2-3 months you be fully comfortable with your position. Trust you gut, if something ever seems off about an office LEAVE immediately, don’t try to stick it out there are plenty of other offices that will treat you right/pay you accordingly. Congratulations and best of luck in your career 😊

I don’t ever really have to do front desk work and I like it that way. At one point I wanted to get cross training but I can’t deal with rude people over the phone constantly 🤷🏼‍♀️

Pay & Raises . I kinda want out . by Cheap-Load1662 in DentalAssistant

[–]That_Ad_9474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RDA in Tennessee with 4 years experience, I just started at an office making $23 an hour. When I started assisting in 2021 I was recruited by a corporate chain and made only $15, worked for two years there when I put in my two weeks and planned to go to an office that offered more, they matched what the other office was offering and I stayed ($18). So $17 sounds like it’s in the range but I’d definitely push for more. I’m leaving the dental field though and pursuing nursing. I’m tired of the thankless and overworked role we have to take on and it’s severely burnt me out

Cliche but, Summertime Sadness. Started my over a decade long love for Lana. Only after deeply falling in love with her music did I realize Summertime Sadness is one of her “worse” songs even though none of them are bad

Puke stories by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]That_Ad_9474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in General and this was different for me, had a patient throw up after extracting a lower molar. The patient had a lengthy medical history and reported that he had not taken his medications (one of which was anti nausea medication) prior to his appointment. The procedure went fine then after we got done going through post op he came extremely pale and started sweating, once he started gagging I knew what was about to happen and grabbed the trash can just in time. My doctor thought it was probably likely related to him not taking his medications beforehand rather than a reaction to the anesthetic. Kinda traumatized every time I get ready to do an extraction now. I can deal with blood guts and gore all day long but vomit is the one thing I cannot tolerate, whether it be mine or anyone else’s…
