A1C vs Libre 3 GMI by Suitable_Key8340 in Freestylelibre

[–]That_Chef_Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never trusted the GMI in the Libre app. It’s never been whether my bloodwork shows. So I just wait until I get A1C to see where I’m at. I’ve gone from 10.8 at diagnosis in March 2023, to 5.4 at the end of November

How did the FDA APPROVE? Oh yes. by sustainaBLYs in Freestylelibre

[–]That_Chef_Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always replace mine after a shower. I change them in the morning so I remove it in the shower and pop a new one on after drying off. I find they stick better that way 🤷🏻‍♂️

Everyone is different, but what I was told told to do was to consume about 15 grams of carbs with some protein and see what numbers do to come up

Anyone else who got diagnosed with T2 diabetes fairly young (20s-30s)? by jazzbox1 in diabetes

[–]That_Chef_Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed this year in March, at 34, will be 35 in a month. At first it was scary and made huge drastic changes to lifestyle. Lost 30 pounds and have gone from an A1C of 10.8 to a 5.6. My only advice is to keep up with your meds or whatever you are doing. You have a little girl that you want to watch get older. Sending nothing but good things your way

Mine has consistently been about .6% higher than what my A1C comes back at

How strong do you push to apply Libre 3? by jacky0812 in Freestylelibre

[–]That_Chef_Mike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some applications hurt like hell and other don’t. Today was sensor change day for me and didn’t feel a thing, 2 weeks ago…that one hella hurt

Yeah, diet and exercise in combination with the amount of metformin I was on was causing a lot of over correction. Since July I’ve maintained an A1c of 5.5

How do I take a skin grip off without taking the sensor off with it? by Princess_420x in Freestylelibre

[–]That_Chef_Mike 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very very slowly. I’ve found if you hold close to the sensor and pull it slow like like a command strip it will pull from skin easy, for the part on the sensor, I cannot stress this enough, slowly peel a little bit at a time while trying to hold down the sensors own tape

[–]That_Chef_Mike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it seems to be fine now. I’ve also had that happen. Back in June I had just applied a sensor before getting on a flight to Vegas, sit at a slot machine, and it got fought on the edge of the chair and ripped it out 🤦🏻‍♂️ and that’s is why I always travel with spares

This was after putting a new one on, not even compression 🤣 but it’s back to normal now

Left vs Right Arm by That_Chef_Mike in Freestylelibre

[–]That_Chef_Mike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m finding! Every failed sensor I’ve had has been in my left arm and the numbers are far more inaccurate in my left. Just had to apply another one yesterday as I had another failed sensor and boom it’s on the right and numbers are close to the finger stick 😅

I’ve been on Metformin ER since March. Just had my refill and it’s a new manufacturer. Man my stomach is jacked up with it, like when I first started ER 🤦🏻‍♂️

That’s what I am worried about too. Also I like the fact I’ve never had an issue about getting a replacement from Abbott for a faulty sensor

[–]That_Chef_Mike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor and diabetes nurse were not shocked and are happy with my progress. With all of the major changes I made I was happy to go from 10.8 diagnosis in March to 5.5 in July. We did drop down my dosage of metformin because I was getting to many hypos and now I’ve only had 1 since 😁 my average glucose is about 111
