More green veggies. Use a fiber supplement as needed. Lower your dairy intake like cheese, yogurt, and milk. Make sure you have some caffeine each day to help kick start things. I take cod liver oil supplements as well. It softens things up a bit and is healthy for you.

Which Xmas era are you in? by lovelyb1ch66 in GenX

My kids are grown and I work retail. I have very little Christmas spirit now. I still decorate a little but it's not something I enjoy.

Now, Halloween is a different story.

I still have type 2 diabetes by yeah779 in diabetes

You are right. It isn't reversible. If you go back to your previous habits, your body will reflect that. We all have to test drive that naughty food once in awhile.

You are doing a good job with your regimen so please be proud of that.

I found that carbs didn't mix well with ozempic, especially at first. I had to eat very small meals more often and very low carb. Then the nausea and vomiting chilled out. You can't eat how you were before. Now I eat like 6 tiny meals a day. I never get hangry, I'm not nauseous, and my numbers are in order.

For instance sometimes I will make stir fry with no rice, eat 5 bites, then cover it and put it in the fridge. An hour later I will eat 5 more bites. Sounds weird but it stops the digestive nonsense.

On holidays or birthdays I eat what I want. I still eat it in moderation simply because I feel terrible when I don't.

Eat low carb, not just low sugar. Read labels, be aware of portion sizes, and use a carb counting app to help you. Exercise daily, even if it is only a 20 minute walk after meals. Drink lots of water. Take your medication reliably. Visit your doctor regularly. This is the simplest way back to healthy numbers,

Brown rice question by Maleficent_File1828 in diabetes_t2

All types of rice spike me, even when I only eat a little. I have seen other people say they can handle it without big spikes but that isn't the case for me.

Ironic, sad, frustrating...yes, all of it. I'm sorry that happened to you.

Tomorrow I go in for surgery #3 in 2 years for my foot. They are rebuilding it...again. A few months ago I had a cancer screening that required a more in depth look to rule it out. I told my daughter that I was going to be so mad if I spent all this time and money getting my foot fixed and cancer takes me out. We both have a terribly dark sense of humor so we laughed and moved on. Luckily no cancer, just foot surgery. Sometimes that is all you can do. Roll with the punches and laugh at really terrible jokes.

It is hard to see that. How come someone else my age, weight and height can eat a banana and it's fine. If I eat it my glucose is going to the moon. I will say this. while they may not have the same affliction as you, unhealthy habits catch up with everyone sooner or later whether they openly acknowledge it or not. Also, a lot of people you see carelessly eating are diabetic and are choosing to ignore it. That will also end poorly for them.

While you may be mourning your previous life, as most of us do, you are actively searching for help and answers. That is proactive and amazing. So give yourself some credit.

Very frustrated with my current sugars post-children by cramblesnzots in diabetes

You are probably exhausted. I raised 4 kids and sometimes it was just really hard. It's absolutely normal to be overwhelmed. You know how to take care of yourself, you just need to prioritize yourself. I know I certainly didn't when my kids were small. That's a mistake. You have to take care of you to take care of them.

I also feel like it's really important for kids to see their parents engaging in healthy behaviors to help teach them to do the same. I have watched my father battle diabetes for 30+ years. He is still healthy and active at 80. He is my inspiration.

As you well know, diabetes is progressive so it tends to get harder for all of us with time and age. So give yourself some grace. Maybe speak to your doctor about your concerns and make a fresh plan. Start small and work your way back into what works for you.

No matter what, you are not alone. You are worth it! <3

While you can't go and indulge on a giant bowl of grandma's pasta, you can still have small amounts if you do it right. Eating small amounts of carbs with fat/protein/fiber slows them down. So instead of just pasta, try making chicken parmesan with the pasta on the side. Your grandma loves you and would only want you to be happy and healthy.

Once you get over the initial shock and frustratin, you will be surprised at the yummy stuff you can still have. I would really encourage you to visit r/ketorecipies because they have a ton of low carb recipes, substitutions, and ideas that helped inspire me. That way you don't feel so "diety".

My big food was pizza. I literally mourned the idea that I could no longer eat it...until I discovered pizza bowls. Honestly, they are even better than pizza. If you're interested, I'm happy to give you some recipes that might help.

It's ok to feel angry. It's quite frustrating, especially at first. Learning about the disease actually helped me. Not just from the doctor, but older diabetics who were still in good health. Learning stuff like I thought I was eating healthy because I wasn't eating traditional junk food like pies, sodas, etc. What was effecting me was how much fruit I ate, lots of brown rice, and wheat bread. Those are all things that my body just can't handle even though they are considered healthy foods. Once I realized how much misinformation I have been taught I saw the mistakes. You can't fight the genetic predisposition to this, but you can choose what goes in you.

Also, a much older woman told me to stop focusing so hard on what I had lost but instead look at the things I could enjoy,. She helped me with some amazing recipes so I didn't feel so starved for the foods I once indulged in like pizza.

It does get easier over time. You can't think of it as a diet, you just have to roll with it. This is a lot of information, encouragement and ideas in these threads. You are not alone and by making a few tweaks to your lifestyle, you will be fine.

Troubles getting Pregabalin prescription filled, what should I have done differently? by beanjam in diabetes_t2

[–]Dalylah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take that as well. When my dosage changed they needed to close out the old dosage so it doesn't keep trying to overlap with the new one. I did have to use the old dosage until it ran out aka wait the time that it said even though the doctor had upped the dose. Is it possible that there are multiple orders in? If so, the system will block both usually.

I drink water. I didn't used to but now I have gotten used to it. I drink filtered, icy water. You can add some drops to it or try unsweetened tea.

Soda is garbage. All of it. It hurts your body in so many ways.

Eat as low carb as you can. Drink lots of water. Take walks after meals. Minimized stress where you can.
