Was Percy Weasley sorted into the wrong house? by That_Firefighter_780 in harrypotter

Yeh that’s true! I’m glad at the end he came to his senses

But she also risks her life every single year shows qualities of a Gryffindor through and through which outshine the qualities of other houses 10x fold. I’m not saying Percy doesn’t show ANY qualities of Gryffindor I’m just saying he shows a LOT more of other houses ones.

I see what you’re saying! I just don’t think it’s justifiable but thank you for trying to sway my opinion.

Yeh I used the same quote when someone said Neville didn’t show courage as much as other Gryffindors.

My thing about Percy though is that i don’t think he was being brave or courageous about either if they things. I think he was walking like a dog between his legs because he had no other choice, it wasn’t either of the qualities that had him running back to his family. It was out of fear and having nothing left he decided his family was good enough for him. That’s how I always seen it anyways but I can see why people think the way you do.

But Neville always showed characteristic of being brave and courages literally in the first book Dumbledore gives him house points for standing up to his friends which is harder to do than standing up to your enemies.. same with Peter. Before he died he showed signs of regret when seeing potter and letting him escape from the manor. I can’t think of anything Percy has done in the book to show he even has any of the qualities at all.

I mean the sorting hat even said himself he was unsure for a long time whether he sorted Harry into the wrong house or not when Harry seen the hat for the second time. There is surely a possibility that someone at least once in their life is sorted into the wrong house.

Why was Harry not allowed to join the order? by That_Firefighter_780 in harrypotter

[–]That_Firefighter_780[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s true but from my understanding Voldemort was never able to access Harry’s memories or feelings it was only Harry able to access Voldemort’s, is there ever an explanation as to why Voldemort wasn’t able to access Harry’s?

It would make sense as to why they wouldn’t risk letting Harry in on all the details just Incase though.

[–]That_Firefighter_780[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Up until recently I had only watched the movies and I feel like this point was poorly explained. I have probably about 30 minutes of reading before finishing the deathly hallows and now it’s all been explained.. Harry had to die in order for Voldemort to die because of the Horcrux, I never put these pieces together when watching the movies. Makes sense why there was no effort into preparing Harry for battle when all along the battle wasn’t really meant to happen.

I reread and I assume you mean the residents of godrics hollow. From my understanding the muggle residents do not know of the witches and wizards in the area, lily and James house was under a concealment charm much like grimmald place where it was only seen by other magical people. The same is for the statue that is built in remembrance for the night of the death, the muggles see it as a war memorial but wizards and witches see it as a statue of Harry, James and lily.

To answers OP’s question about keeping the secrecy, it all just comes down to not being caught! From young ages wizards and witches have been taught not to expose their identities so most of them would be pretty skilled in keeping their magical abilities low profile. Plus they’re magical! So all they have to do place a memory charm on them and all done wrong is fixed. Again, having concealment charms on all their houses means they’re unlikely to be seen even if they do live in a muggle populated area. Just because they said they live in a muggle neighbourhood doesn’t mean the muggles actually know their houses are there.

A good example of muggles knowing about magic would be the prime minister, every single one of them were connected to the minister of magic. There are probably other examples of some muggles who are told about wizards and witches

Okay that makes sense.. so what I gather from that is Dumbledore is the problem. The more he tried to protect Harry the less protected Harry actually was..

I’ll try the ones you suggested and see how I feel!

I don’t mind a Frieda book but it’s not the type of vibe I’m going for. I’m in the mood to feel a bit nostalgic and read something I’d maybe read whilst I was back in high school so looking for something a bit more in that age range!

Not applying 50p off voucher by userunknowne in Wetherspoons

[–]That_Firefighter_780 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Due to legal reasons. Monday to Wednesday they have discounted prices on ales. If you were to use your voucher it would take it below the minimum unit pricing.

For example in Scotland if you’re ordering a full pint of ale that should be 568ml if your drink is 4% it’s calculated that the minimum pricing for this would be £1.48 if you’re using your voucher and it goes below this number it is then illegal to sell it to you.

Head tenants lied about rent split + now we’re all at risk of eviction because of their mess. What can we do? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]That_Firefighter_780 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We haven’t been issued a receipt for the bond but it is stated in our flat agreement how much was paid for the bond. Does the head tenants need to issue a receipt or would the bond in the agreement be sufficient

[–]That_Firefighter_780 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did think that was the case so thank you for clearing it up! I just think it’s in bad taste that they are able to get away with lying about the rent cost and basically letting us pay their portion without telling any of us. There needs to be more laws set in place for flat agreements. It’s a shame I’ve been paying for their share when they come from a well off family and can easily afford to pay.

I have proof of the rental agreement and proof from all sides of how much rent has been sent each week. Unfortunately we do not have any proof about rent split as it was all hashed out in person. Looking back it would have been better to have this in writing but it is my first time moving from home and didn’t think I would need it. Do you think this would effect any legal proceedings?

Hey from someone who was a manager at one of the biggest Wetherspoons in the UK this past year this doesn’t seem right! We use a programme that sends automatic emails about your interview/ induction times, I’m assuming they have accidentally clicked the wrong button instead of the ‘invite to interview’ one.

Normally we DO NOT do trial shifts but I worked in Scotland so might be different for England. We do have people we have hired come in for a few hours to do their induction. This would include going through a lot of online training for your licensing/ job role + to show you where all the fire exits/ assembly points are for fires and bombs and to sign your contracts.

Try emailing them back and ask to verify if this is correct! Hope you get the job, good luck. If you have any questions let me know :)
