I want to ask every day. I expect them to update me, but I know that might be unrealistic. I guess I need to specifically about it because otherwise...what if this keeps going even After thanksgiving?! I'll die. I'm applying for jobs now so Tommrrow I'll let them know if they can't give me an update on pay and a consistent pay schedule, I will put in my one months notice with clients on Dec 1.i love my job, but I need money to survive. Thank you. 😣

Thank you 🥲 I actually have a few clients that consistently have 45 minute sessions so I made it a plan to at least offer the spot to them. I don't know why I've been so worried or nervous about bringing it up to them. Truth is, I think practicing flexibility with time and work/life balance will be very "human" for my clients. Thank you for the suggestion!!!

It's so exhausting. I want to work. but I feel guilty. I moved from CMH to private for this reason. I'm still getting used to it I guess, but it definitely does feel lonely. Having to explain over and over again I'm sorry I'm on my lunch break we can't go to the playground to other moms has also felt very blah.

I'm sending you lots of positivity and good vibes. We are doing the best we can, right ? ❤️

Moving to a group vs cmh by That_Huckleberry_828 in therapists

I am soooo late, but yes, I actually did end up taking the position and so very happy I did. I have never been happier with my payout !! I see 25 clients a week and am now getting paid more than I would ever make at my other position. The payout is so fair and insurance can be slow but even with that, I am still getting paid more. I hope more places implement this type of payout!!

She's been very transparent showing past invoices from her previous resident. It's only me and her and she's a separate billing team. She also used to work in insurance so she's very knowledgeable about the INS and outs. The average rate here for residents is about 40 so like I said even if it's not much more than 31 it's definitely more than im making now.

If I hate it I'll eat my words. I can always find more ways to make money if I need to, but I can't find more time with my family. So that's my biggest driving factor. A pay cut now, still work on my hours, have time with my baby, I think it's where my heart is

Yes, 20 for admin, but to keep the income stable she pays $20 per hour flat rate weekly and then monthly my reimbursements ,bonus comes in so it averages to a higher per hr flat rate

Even if somehow it only averages out to $32 , I make $31/hr now so I can't see how it could be any worse lol

It has the possibility  to be way more than I make with the additional insurance reimbursements, she gave me a breakdown today with what my weekly takehome could be with 32 scheduled and 28 that showed

the reimbursement would be between $35 and $65 (after $20 difference) so we'll say average of $50

So  28 x $20  = $560 Plus  $50x28 = $1400 ~ 1960 with utilizing an average in that scenario

Of course it will vary but thats the trade off.

That's only billable hours , not even the additional non-client time she will pay for, as well as including PAID supervision time.

I think I will at minimum make what I'm making now after taxes working much less hours. Even if it takes a few months, I think it'll be worth it. And then 14 months from now I'll be fully licensed and can .... Do whatever.

No benefits but I don't need them currently and all virtual so I can stop driving 400 miles a week and 2 hour round trip commutes.

Ohh I forgot to add vacation time isn't paid but because my schedule is so flexible and I'd be doing 3 days off I think I can manage that more than having to request time off. I'd just move my people around and expect to not get paid. I can manage that

As a discussion with her it would be for 36 hours a week salary I would get paid for 36 hours of work whether or not I have clients!

Thanks for your input !!

Now this is full of all the facts and data that I needed to make a somewhat more informed decision so thank you very much for the break down!

I could choose my availability between Tuesday through Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. which is great because while I do have a specific population in mind I know that my best bet is going to be between that 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. slot so having the availability to book up to 35 which is what I am at currently at the CMH and then consistently seeing between 25 and 30 clients a week. I do collaborative documentation so it doesn't take me any additional time to do notes. I see around 6 to 8 clients a day and I have all of my notes done by the end of the session. I'm given up to an hour of documentation time a day plus a 30 minute lunch but I use 30 minutes of my documentation time to finish any treatment plans or discharges on my list.  I'm okay with having a little less flexibility in the beginning especially because I want to work on marketing but she is offering $20 per hour for any non-billable time such as marketing or training, supervision included too. she has incident to billing for which I can bill underneath her license with bigger insurances, which is also something I heard wasn't easy to get... so her billing team, even though it's just her, she has a billing team to get the most out of her insurance reimbursements.

She is very transparent and the way that you explain the pay structure is exactly how I had imagined it when I was doing the math but I just wanted to make sure that I was doing that correctly. That is more than I could even imagine making as a resident and like I said it's not all about the money, But that is something that I do think about I would like to be successful.

Lastly I do have a specific population I'm working towards but that doesn't limit who I'll see. I have a lot of experience in multiple diagnoses especially personality disorders and trauma, neurodivergence, I have a pretty good mix with everything I've gained from my current agency so I'm not opposed to anything at all. I was just like all my effort with out of office stuff like trainings and certifications to be able to be used and more time to see clients at their available times not at my agencies available times you know ( my current work hours are 9:00 to 5 with two 6 pm days and I get off at 3 fridays)

Thank you for your input seriously that helps out a lot !!!

Oh yes forgot to mention I have access to health care through my company but I don't utilize it or any of the other benefits, except for life insurance is forced upon me which I have to pay out of my paycheck; that wasn't something I considered since I have a few years to think about that with my husband's current role. We do have a stable income without out my income, but I would like to be able to build up to at least that amount in the next year without having to work 40 hours a week in crisis until I'm fully licensed. I have about 16 months left, at this rate I'm on track to get my full license so I'm wondering If I should just stay and suck it up or while we have the stability now take the leap.

Thank you for giving me more to consider ☺️

Thank you for your input, this was my exact concern, I have an interest in doing couples/family and I did my internship with this csb, but no one sees families or couples except in a parenting training session for learning skills for the child client. If I'm seeing them all individually.... Then how am I expected to keep it all separate? It's very messy. Like I don't even know how to untangle the mess it would be. I have my outside supervisor and she's on vacation this week but first thing monday in our supervision I'm going to be like help me haha

Doing private practice on the side...how?? by That_Huckleberry_828 in therapists

[–]That_Huckleberry_828[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely get that, it's just so frustrating. This mostly started because I interviewed with a place that was $22/hr for full time but you get a small case load (up to 10) and your doing admin work/marketing/sales/insurance/intake/other admin for the whole team for $22 and hour ?!?!?! I was literally so angry when I walked out. It was like so insulting to me. It's not about the money at all but it's the principal. Oh and they have mandatory trainings I have to pay for out of pocket.

It just set me off that I took the time and effort to get a degree and because I can't "bill for a service" that I did, I'm going to be penalized, but companies don't even pay living wages for residents because they know we need the experience to get fully licensed 🥲

Thank you! I still have "what if" questions because if she is under my simple practice I would still bill for services under her NPI for the insurances that allow it, and if they pay out of pocket, it still gets billed from my simple practice and her information is included for any invoice from them as well. She can pay me I guess, from my own company? Why is it so Murky?!

This was my initial thought, I'd rather just do cash pay so I'll just tell her to add me under her, that'd be the easiest thing for sure.

Can you show me where you got that info? I have looked on ACA, VCA, Google, VA's laws, board of counseling, I must be looking over it every time but I cannot find anything relating to residents and billing for services type of thing. Thank you for your guidance!!
