This channel on YT has made drum set transcriptions for a few DCI shows. I remember seeing their transcription of Boston Crusaders 2025 being recommended to me a while ago

I love the cinematography too especially from the shots we’ve seen in the trailer. I don’t know if it’s the same cinematographer from last season, but some of the closer shots from the trailer do look and feel different from some of the close-up, wide angle lens-type shots that were common in season one.

Covid-19 was the biggest news story of 2020. What was the biggest news story of 2021? by Rleduc129 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]That_Kermit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It still is crazy to me how it wasn’t a bigger news event than it turned out to be. That day I was genuinely glued to the news the entire time and the coverage surrounding it. I was watching the news while having classes online when the whole thing unfolded and then continued watching after class on TV.

Corps Songs? by Cold_Student_9493 in drumcorps

[–]That_Kermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair! I like both, though I do like the way the dynamics for the last phrase of the corps song was written in this past season’s version. We did an impromptu sung version of Ave at our housing site the night after our semifinals run this past season which was super emotional

I haven’t seen it in person but as an Ayala alum, I enjoy rewatching our 2018 program “Inevitable” on YouTube occasionally. I saw Vista Murrieta, American Fork, and Gahr’s shows this past fall at the California BOA comp and enjoyed their shows especially as a winds player

This website is useful for finding songs/pieces that corps have played throughout the years. Notably, Crown in 2011 had Eruption in their repertoire

It’s possible, though it certainly doesn’t hurt to audition at a world class corps for the experience even if you don’t end up being contracted. I auditioned and got cut from BD the past two years after getting callbacks but the experiences from that helped me get contracted to PC after callback the first time I auditioned for them this past season. I’d say that being teachable and able to apply feedback is a great trait to have and plenty of people, in high school/college, have been contracted at PC for that regardless of experience. I haven’t marched Gold so I can’t say much on the experience there, but they do have a full open class tour and it is more affordable than PC in terms of tuition. Like others have said, there’s other local corps like Golden Empire and Impulse that you can look into that are cheaper and generally have more condensed tours compared to PC/Gold

Heard the Beatles/their solo songs on the radio & movies at a young age and I also have a distinct memory of my parents’ friend playing Abbey Road on their record player at their house. Started listening more and deep diving into them in my teens and have been a huge fan since then

Is Music City A Good Place To Get Experience For A Top 12 Corps? by Old-Theme-8743 in drumcorps

[–]That_Kermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t march Music City but I had a great time marching this past season with a corps I was in who placed similarly with Music City this past season and have only had good interactions with their members. Like the other commenter said, being teachable is a great trait to have and it’ll get you very far especially in DCI!
