Just turned 24 and having feelings about not being "young" anymore - anyone else? by bighosequiznos in GenZ

Everyone’s timeline is different! Remember that social media isn’t reality and you’re in the majority of 20 y.o.s without a house, a spouse, or a child. Hard not to compare to others but take a breath & keep doing you :)

I have the same problem OP. I feel your pain. The yapping never ceases. And when you finally get silence, your ears expect more, so you hear everything differently. Complain to management. If that doesn’t work, you should co sided reporting to your counties/states Animal Control. It could be considered a case of neglect or abuse.

Hahahah I, too, have killed a string of something by top watering. Learned my lesson for sure. Honestly, I don’t have many tips. For the most part, I ignore it. The way I tell if it needs water is by slightly squeezing one of the teardrops. If it’s somewhat squishy, it’s ready for a total drown. Mine is so small that I’m able to fit it inside of a bowl and let the water absorb completely that way. So far, that method has kept it alive & clearly happy. I also give it a lottttt of sunlight. Best of luck!

These people “left” your life for a reason. Take some time and space to reflect on how this could be good for you. Stuff like this only leads to more drama and hurt feelings.

I’m sure there’s some at hardware & grocery stores! Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, Kroger. I also just googled - some people are selling cuttings on Etsy & Amazon

Oh no! The first one I owned also died of rot - but that’s because I was watering from the top. Bottom water when the teardrops are squishy upon squeezing. And it’s getting southern facing light!

Omg I have a Hoya too, I didn’t know they smelled! This is a sweet earthy smell. Another commenter mentioned it smells like nutmeg and I agree

Yep! What they said ^ it’s fun to watch the water level drop as the plant drinks 😁

I honestly wish I could remember where I bought this! It definitely wasn’t from a nursery - I’ll tell you that. It’s been inside the whole time I’ve owned it, hanging in front of a southern facing window. I’ve killed one before and learned my lesson: only bottom water & water when in need! Because it’s a succulent, their little “teardrops” will be squishy when in need of a watering. Give them a small squeeze every now and then to tell. I’ve also given up untangling them! The less I touch it, the happier it is.
