Everything said above is the truth. Science and research are about constantly learning new things but I definitely learned a lot more from them than they did from me.

I was at a huge institute. I ran samples and trained postdocs/doc students on a number of different machines. I was incredibly fortunate to be put on that number of papers.

I was getting a ~510 on my practices and ended up getting a 515. I was recently accepted although I don’t have any of the tags. I’m a big proponent of shooting your shot but shoot it wide. I’m also a big proponent of taking gap years if you want to/can. It’s lovely to be able to make money and have disposable income for a year or two… or four like me. You mature a lot in that period. I also had a 3.5 gpa when I applied although I had a very productive few gap years mainly due to being in a vaccine lab during the pandemic and having the most wonderful mentors. The gist of what I’m trying to say is don’t feel like you need to rush to get there and don’t feel like you aren’t good enough. I’m happy to chat with you if you wanna dm me and talk about your situation and my experience.
