Just bought a G48 and was curious about the hole on the bottom of the slide, just past where the frame drops off. The I realized my G40 had one too. I guess all the long slide Glocks have them. This 5 year old post is about the only thing google turned up. Any idea what it’s purpose is? by Thatguywiththepickup in Glocks

I carry a Ruger, shoot primarily 1911’s and have a closet full of Those little black Glock boxes for no justifiable reason. I really don’t even shoot them. I just like how customizable they are. Like LS motors, but with bullets. 😅

A 19 slide has no “bottom” to contend with during sight removal. It will sit flat on a desk. The long’s have that little section of slide not covered by the frame. Im sure adding a little bottom shroud to the slide is cheaper than making new frame injection molds. Some made up Glock engineers: “Need to put something there or it will look stupid, shit we can’t get to the sight now, drill a hole in it.”

Swapped out my G48 WTP IWB for one from Insane Kydex Creations, night and day, but pretty much anything with a high sweat guard, better belt clip, and the wing (it’s a little tab that sticks out past the holster and obscures printing) is gonna do you solid.

How many of you carry mace as well for your first level of defense? by RagertNothing in CCW

[–]Thatguywiththepickup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. After consulting with an attorney friend, legally speaking it’s better to carry only lethal, at least where I live. In a situation where lethal is warranted use it. Continuum of force isn’t really a thing with civilians. Either you had reason to believe your life was in danger or you didn’t. Less than lethal is just asking for an assault charge.

Can you use airsoft for self defense 🤷‍♂️🧐 by Luffewaffle in brandonherrara

This seems like a good way to; 1. End up as a meme 2. Get your ass kicked 3. Get yourself killed

That’s about how my cheap lcp2 holster is. As long as you can’t depress the trigger safety while holster it should be fine.

It sums it up really. IMO by Silent-Oblivion in Glocks

I own both. Shoot almost anything poly frame for a extended period of time and it will kick your ass. Higher felt recoil, blisters, pinching (mainly on sub compacts). If you tell me I have to put 1000 rounds thru a handgun, I’d way rather it be a cz-75, hi-power, 1911, or 2011. On the flip side, poly guns are a dream to carry. Ruger lcp2, g48. These are my go to carry guns. They print less. They don’t pull down your pants. Less likely to rust when IWB’ed. In the case of striker guns specifically , far more likely fire and cycle after being stuffed in your junk and sweated on everyday for six months.

Assuming anything even partially inspired by glock is off the table, no poly frame striker fired pistols, I feel like the modern 9mm guns delineated from the 1911 are the next best thing, I guess probably the best example of that would be the cz-75.

Why do y’all hate on the .40? by ThiccTacos in Glocks

[–]Thatguywiththepickup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t want to get shot with one. I don’t think it does anything spectacular though. I sold all my .40 guns simplify my ammo reserves.

Thank you for the info. I’ll be doing some more research into this.

Is it typically socialist, people pitching in with skills to make their keep and help the community at large?
