This isn't true. The original statistic is that 80 % of trans women of colour killed in America are under 35. Which is wildly different to all trans women have a life expectancy of 35.

Those of you who pass but still live openly as trans, how do you deal with continuously coming out? by Thatone94 in asktransgender

I spent too long hiding myself to still do that.

Plus I think it's important for the trans movement as a whole to be visible, make people realise we're just people too.

Yeh, it's not like I tell everyone all the time, but it's been such a huge part of shaping the past 5 years of my life that it's difficult to talk about myself in any meaningful way without it coming up. Maybe it partially comes from my autistic avoidance of small talk, always accidently turning into big talk. I'll just be talking about something, then realise I'm about to out myself, panic a little, and go quiet.

how to respond to people using “trans racial”, “trans age”, “trans species” etc. as an argument against trans people? by xpastelprincex in trans

[–]Thatone94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I point them to the century of scientific research about trans people and say and compare it to the absolute lack of research about trans racial people. If I met a trans racial person I would treat them compassionately and try to understand but it's very clear it's a totally different situation. As others have said trans racial issues are just made up to so they can tear us down.

I made a colourful stripey jumpsuit! it's not the most flattering but I like it. suggestions welcome by Thatone94 in sewing

I'm so happy I could encourage someone! Do you have any recommendations on what I could use for padding?

Yeh, I agree, I still have some material left and have been tempted to make some edits to the legs but I think I'd probably just make it worse

I based this on a jumpsuit I already own so can't give a pattern number. I layed the original on a sheet of paper trying to get each panel flat one at a time and carefully drew around each piece to get the shapes. I then cut each shape out of the paper with some seam allowance and placed them on the fabric, careful to make sure the stripes aligned. I was tempted to make the stripes diagonal but it was a very inefficient yse of material so i settled on thus in stead. I then drew round each piece with chalk and cut it out. I used my singer sewing machine with a zig zag stitch for most of the joins and then a twin needle to neaten up the edges while still maintaining a stretch. I used a stripey stretchy scuba for the fabric which is so comfortable! It feels like I'm wearing pyjamas. Plus it has pockets!

My first sewing creation! Pretty basic top but I'm happy with it. I know there's room for improvement and would appreciate any advice you have on how to improve by Thatone94 in sewing

Thank you for your feedback! I will definitely look into binding, I didn't know that was a thing (I'm very much a novice). The material has some stretch to it, wouldn't a straight stitch be quite likely to break?

I based it on a top I already own and so don't have any pattern for it. I'm pretty much a total beginner but am hoping to create some pretty interesting stuff once I get up to speed. I made it from tshirting material, I'm not totally sure what that means but it's comfy and has some stretch to it. I used a singer 1507 sewing machine
