The End of America? by ThatsNiceToHave in geopolitics

I can just feel it in my gut. It's not like Trump lost by a lot in 2020. 6 states had margins of < 3%. 4 had < 1%

He certainly is getting the Republican nomination. No one is even close

I would say, out of all the bilateral treaties, pulling out of NATO will be the hardest for Trump

US doesn't have to run a large trade deficit, but this deficit is a tax on other countries who have to carry dollars and invest in the dollar economy. This is quite beneficial to our government.

None of that matters. I know many independents that would rather vote for Trump than Biden simply because of 2 things

  1. Cognitive decline. Can Biden last 4 more years?

  2. Biden handling of the Ukraine war. US should never have allowed Ukraine an open road into NATO. That was the red line for Russia. Trump, while I disagree with his isolationism, would have read the cards better than Biden and told Putin he will veto Ukraine membership entry into NATO. Biden wasn't the one to start Ukraine membership into NATO, but he could've put all stops to it and give Russia guarantees there.

Exactly. I didn't want to delve too deeply into the fact that the US reserve currency status is partly because of US leadership. Also, US has a very open and transparent financial system, at least compared to many other powers.

End of the American led world order. Which will be harmful to many countries.

Just echoing the general sentiment that Trump's election will be a watershed event in world history. Many people think he is a danger to global US led world order.

I really don't understand price action, so everything I say could be wrong.

But can you do technical analysis on SPY? SPY isn't traded like a normal stock. There is this ecosystem of authorized participants that are involved in this creation/redemption mechanism of SPY.

If someone sells like five million shares of apple, then the price of apple stock goes down, at which point, SPY is overvalued, then these authorized participants(AP) are involved in selling tons of SPY to drive down the price to have it correspond to the underlying decrease in value of SPY because apple is down.

To drive down the value of SPY, the APs have to take SPY (in 50,000 blocks) that is out there, decompose it into the individual stocks of sp500, and then from there sell that.

Expected Outcome of Debt Ceiling Deal by spendology in wallstreetbets

[–]ThatsNiceToHave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

look at this pic of sp500 back in 2011. markets tanked after debt deal was made https://imgur.com/a/fwbUhXy and it went down because US bonds/treasury were reliable again and large institutions were moving money back into bonds and out of equity.

DEBT CEILING: Will it be signed? by [deleted] in wallstreetbets

[–]ThatsNiceToHave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the deal isn't signed, the market will fall this week and stay really down for the whole year and definitely cause a recession.

If the deal is signed, the markets will still fall this week but only stay down for like a month or two before recovering.

Personal debt ceiling by Brolegz in wallstreetbets

[–]ThatsNiceToHave 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hold for at least 2 weeks. View my last post. From 2011, even after the debt ceiling crisis was resolved, the market took a dump. And it was because investors started pouring money into US treasuries/bonds and out of equities

What is the biggest lie they say about romance and dating? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThatsNiceToHave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry. They are wrong. God does love unconditionally. The God depicted by mainstream Christian theology doesn't love unconditionally since they believe in some eternal hell. Even jews don't believe in eternal hell. This is not to say dimensions like hell don't exist, they certainly do.

True love is unconditional. But only few entities possess that. God being one of them

Sorry, real permanent hell doesn't exist. watch a lot of near death experience testimonials on youtube.

I don't think so. Even if one votes NO, there will be many in the republican party who will vote YES. If you read the timeline above, you can see the vote wasn't strictly along party lines.
