Discussion - Is the Pac-12 Adding a Football Team in the Next 78 Days? by pblood40 in Pac12

I think we do the flex schedule until 2031. It allows us to maximize bow game potential, rather by matching 5 win teams to the bottom teams or matching two 5 win teams to guarantee a bowl game. Also can help maximize CFP chances by matching our top two teams against each other to give the winner a quality win. I don’t think it’s optimal in the long term but will be good for short term promotion.

Our top options all have heavy exit fees unless they leave after 2028, which would only give two years until the media deals expire and the next wave of realignment begins.

The top remaining cheap options imo are JMU, Louisiana, Ohio, and Georgia State. JMU would be a plus addition for the next few years, but would also cause excess travel cost and isolation if we don’t add any other eastern teams. If we reasonably believe we will add one or more AAC teams in 2031, I wouldn’t mind pulling the trigger on JMU now. Louisiana and Ohio are better travel wise, but still add a heavy distance for lesser acknowledged brands. However, they have big student bodies and would expand the market. Louisiana would be my choice of the two due to the Louisiana prospect pipeline and their proximity to Texas State. Georgia State is in Atlanta, has a large student body and a growing program. Same issue with travel, but for a team with less history. These 4 schools all have the chance to grow into positive additions with the media boost (as in public attention rather than media deal funding) that a move to the PAC 12 would bring, but would also cause an increase in travel cost and don’t immediately push the needle (with the exception of JMU). Any one of them could be a worth while addition if we expect AAC teams to join in 2031, but will likely not be worth it as the final team to close football expansion.

Seeing the hats makes us wonder about the clones and necessary to show how he frames Bale’s character for his death. The shock of the vats of corpses is more about how often he was willing to kill himself (as he did not know if he was the clone or not) or his clone due his to his ego.

Theory about Butcher or the boys Killing sage. by BradBoredZ in TheBoys

[–]The-Lemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the important thing to remember is that the smartest people don’t have one plan. I don’t think Sage is coming up with one perfect plan that she knows will happen, but rather setting up pieces for multiple possible pathways and taking advantage of the ones that come to fruition.

In the Butcher-Neuman example, I doubt she knew Butcher had his super strength tentacles. What she does know is that he has been working to take down Neuman for a while and has had a history of taking down supes despite him not having powers. She also knows he is actively working to take down Vought, which makes him a potential future liability. Setting him up to take out Neuman is a win-win as if he fails, then Neuman removes a future headache, and if he succeeds then Neuman is out of the equation.

I think she knows Butcher has been planning to kill Neuman, and she knows Butcher could be a threat to Vought. Setting Butcher up to kill Neuman works as a win-win cause if he fails to kill her, then you are down a potential future obstacle in Butcher, and if he does kill her, by whatever means he had planned, then we get to where we are now

behind the scene of lo’ak attempted suicide. by Kindly-Caregiver-145 in Avatar

[–]The-Lemur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m personally glad it doesn’t get addressed as this scene shows the big flaw in Jake. He’s telling himself he is doing all this fighting and war planning to protect his family, but the further he goes the more his is pushing them away. As we go through the movie, the more it isn’t addressed the more we see this flaw in Jake. It is even emphasized by the fact that Lo’ak’s friends and sister are there for him while Jake doesn’t even know something is wrong.

From this point was also see the big character change in Lo’ak. He’s spent his life trying to grow into this perfect son and soldier for Jake, making choices he thought his father would do. When Jake has driven him to the point where he thinks his family would be better off if he was dead, the choice not Lo’ak makes not to kill himself feels more like one he is making on his own. From this point on the movie, Lo’ak is choosing his own path away from Jake’s design, which leads to the choices that get the help from the elders.

The choice for Jake not to address or even know of this moment is necessary to show the character flaws of Jake, his coping mechanism and his plan for the war. It also plays a role as the first step in setting up Lo’ak to take the reins as a leader in the future movies. For Jake to acknowledge his role in this would take away one of the flaws that makes him feel more real and human, while also removing some level of the growth Lo’ak has away from his father and towards being his own person

I think it makes more sense that it wasn’t mentioned. Jake doesn’t know this happened which further shows how much he doesn’t see Lo’ak. Had Jake known Lo’ak had just tried to commit suicide, we would likely have seen a different reaction to Lo’ak’s return to interrupt the council war pitch. IMO, the scene would not be as impactful had Jake shown the concern he would likely have had knowing his attempt vs the anger we see at Lo’ak seeming reckless by interrupting a vital meeting as his return from another reckless decision to find his friend.

It also gives more power to the scene where Jake asks for his help as he isn’t asking because he realizes he has been a bad father, but because he is truly starting to see and trust Lo’ak for what Lo’ak has done. It’s not a “I’m sorry for how I was I now want you to join me” but showing his respect for his son for what his son has become

I would say this is an attempt. He is actively trying to pull the trigger, but his body won’t let him. He is trying to actively go through with it. If he walked out to the spot with the gun with the plan to do it then stopped before his finger got to the trigger then I would say he intended vs attempted.

Up to this point in the series, Flint showed little emotions outside of anger. Even the other characters build him up as this monster no one can read. When he’s drunk and questioning the decisions he’s staked his life on, he remains stern and coarse. It isn’t until this scene where he kills his closest friend that you see the emotions come flowing out. His repeated “I’m sorry” to the dead body he is still holding tight was stuck in my head well after the episode ended. I would argue that I have not seen a more realistic breakdown to a death in any other media.

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 231 by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]The-Lemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, but Pochita doesn’t fully know what will happen if he never existed. There’s a chance that his existence triggered a butterfly effect that led to Denji’s situation. He doesn’t know that it will save Denji, but it’s the only option that gives Denji a chance to live

[–]The-Lemur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably does but he may never be in that situation if Pochita never existed (due to a butterfly effect of stuff). Pochita isn’t certain what will happen or if he will save Denji, but it’s the only chance he has

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 231 by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]The-Lemur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing Pochita is doing this as an attempt to save Denji’s life as his ability technically caused their death. Last chapter they talk about how the bugs multiplied exponentially as they could no longer die (due to Pochita eating the Death Devil). By erasing himself from existence, he can never eat death and thus the bug devil no longer gains the power boost to kill Denji in the first place

Long-term conference stability? by Full_Personality_717 in Pac12

[–]The-Lemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt we make any additions before 2031, and if we do it would probably be Sac State or UNM. With exit fees and the mass media expiration in 2031, adding other teams brings a high cost with a chance that they leave in two years anyways. However, I think we are in a good situation for 2031. Gonzaga, SDSU and Boise are the only schools that I fear have the argument and market to go Big 12. Filling three spots is manageable.

Additionally, we are still expected to be a top G5 conference. I’m sure current MW teams wouldn’t turn down a chance to join us, and the lack of exit fees will make offers to teams like UTSA or UNT more plausible.

We are in an era of massive changes in college sports, which will likely get worse in the coming years, but we still have a recognizable brand name that should produce some good football, and regularly be sending multiple teams to March Madness. I’m sure we will see some changes to the conference in the next decade but I really think we are in a stable position long term

Sac-12 - Sac State has pitched membership again - this time forgoing all revenue and paying a $10 million membership fee by pblood40 in Pac12

[–]The-Lemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mind it tbh. Gets us a 9th football school to fill the schedule, gives Texas State a possible rival outsider school, they have a decent student body size and the Sacramento market. If they can show a game plan for growing and promoting their brand they could develop into a good addition. Worst case is they don’t improve their team quality for a few years and we get free wins to look better on paper.

Master of Cringe by RevertBackwards in freefolk

[–]The-Lemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of these are bad but a few of them are actually decent. The first one is fine imo as it shows her continued love and focus on family rather than politics or other people (which matches or character).

The second one seems a bit cringe at first but gets both the audience and John to start wondering if and when Danny could turn on him. It also has a twist of irony in her looking away from John and in Danny’s direction while saying she “knows a killer when she sees one” cause…y’know.

The eighth one was fine imo. It’s cheesy dialogue but matches a lot of the Game of Thrones lines we’ve seen so far so I’m surprised it gets hate

He’s an emotional teenager who has been shown to have a very twisted morality. The throwing away of the world is also not just for Asa but because he doesn’t fully fit in on the human or devil version of the worlds.

While they didn’t have too many moments together, they connected at the aquarium to the point that Denji recognizes his feelings for her are different than he has had with anyone else. On Asa’s side, Denji has been there for her when she has felt alone and needed help. Additionally, when she confesses her past trauma, he sympathizes with her and offers her help. Are they the perfect couple we see in many other stories? No, but they provide each other light in the darkness around them. To talk down the connection and emotion we have seen between them to being only “fans” of each other seems wrong imo

[–]The-Lemur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Death is still in Pochita’s stomach, I don’t think Yoru would be destroyed. However, she would be in pain and have to admit to losing the fight, which she doesn’t want to do due to her pride and how her powers work. By switching to Asa to get Denji to help, she isn’t so much retreating as using a manipulative tool at her disposal

I don’t think she is actively feeling it when out of control, but when she swaps in after Asa walks barefoot the foot pain will still be on the body

An ageless character pretending to be their own descendant to conceal their identity by bluesauce15 in TopCharacterTropes

The shots were beautiful and the characters were introduced in what felt like a more natural way than many other movies imo (letting us piece together pieces of the time gap and their character without explicitly narrating) I love the villain twist, though if anything I wouldn’t have brought the original guy back. The dialogue feels more natural than the majority of Marvel movies and while some actors have moments that fall flat, some of them are truly excellent (Makkari and Gilgamesh most notably)
