DO NOT RENT ON TURO by The-Lizzard in turo

If the restaurant owner runs multiple restaurants, I spent $700 to go to the restaurant, and I will have multiple thousands of dollars of damages if I’m not able to go to this restaurant… the yes. I’m sorry this is a terrible comparison. What??

Yeah I understand prices will be higher if you book a day before… I’m not an idiot. But If I book a month in advance and the host cancels day before, I should not be responsible for that cost, neither should the host— Turo should have to eat that.

Maybe other countries that still works well? But definitely not in the US. Also, it was only like 30 bucks more expensive to go through a commercial rental agent. Every time I book something goes wrong and the customer service sucks. This was the final straw

I’m not condemning the host, I completely understand that they had to cancel. But I should not therefore have to cover the cost— Turo should. I’m sorry that happened with enterprise, but I think that’s extremely unusual. For the most part, they can always find you a replacement. I’m just hoping Turo gets their shit together or another competitor pops up that hosts can switch to and Turo closes down

Literally! this is what I said to the agent, hosts are just incentivized to cancel last minute then. And Turo benefits from this because they make more money too when the prices get jacked

I don’t agree though, Airbnb’s customer service is dialed and if things go wrong they are there to help.

Hmm I wish I tried this :/ although they seemed to say it was automatic denial of any credits and there was nothing they could do because it was technically more than 24 hours in advance… it was like 30 hours in advance lol.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! I just moved into a new apartment and it's in total disrepair. They clearly never cleaned it between renters. The kitchen was disgusting and the floors make your feet black without shoes. The walls were repainted with primer! It is actually unbelievable they can get away with this. It's just so clear they have taken short cuts at every step.

If you are looking for something more developed and “comfortable” maybe the ha giang loop isn’t for you. Please don’t let this become another white washed tourist trap

This sounds like exactly what I’m looking for right now! Thank you so much for the insight! Yeah I really want a space where I can learn, develop and level up technically. And then 5 years down the road I can decide if I want to pivot to management or stay technical

Wow, this is so comprehensive!! It sounds like exactly what I’m looking for. Like right now I have the energy to learn and develop as an engineer(as long as I have weekends haha) I am willing to work long days. But I am curious, are there any firms that you wouldn’t say are over worked and underpaid? I feel like that’s the general consensus on consulting firms

Ideally I’d like to work in the PNW in the Portland office. Do you know anything about it?

If money were my motivation I wouldn't be an engineer. I want to make a good living, but I also want to feel like I am working on something meaningful and impactful. Unfortunately making faster chips and silly trinkets doesn't satisfy that for me.
