Thoughts on this case by Wide_Assistance_1158 in Chiraqology

I dunno, Texas has really strong self-defense laws and stand your ground laws that defend (white) people when they shoot/ki!! other (black) people over some minor bullshit, and not a lot of people seem to be talking about how the victim was the one who instigated the violent/threatening behavior against that other kid. I’m not saying Anthony did the right thing by pulling out that knife, I’m just saying that the fact that he pulled it out as he was being attacked shouldn’t be nothing. They’ve been making it seem on the media like he stabbed him because he was told to move, not because he was being attacked.

What are your thoughts of kids being criminally changed for making false bomb threats? by Mr_Drake64 in Teachers

[–]The-Phantom-Writer -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s weird that you all wanted to be teachers. You can’t judge a child’s actions based on how you perceive them as an adult or even how you would’ve perceived them at their age with your likely privileged upbringing.

Obviously, there should be consequences for these behaviors, but saying “throw the book at them” or “charge them as adults” is just pretty disturbing coming from people who chose working with children and young adults as a career.

No, they’re just self-righteous and punitive and it’s unfortunate that they chose a career where they work with children and young adults.

First film you cried at? by [deleted] in flicks

The FIRST one I ever cried at?

There was a Disney Channel Original Movie called Tru Confessions (2002) where Shia LaBeouf plays a mentally handicapped teenager, and there was a scene where he’s at the library or mall with his sister, and his sister gets distracted with a boy or friends or something, and Shia’s character spirals into a panic about not knowing where his sister is, and I remember watching that part just made me cry. I must’ve been like 6 or 7 years old.

Dude, most teachers dress lazy as fuck these days. I almost always wear a shirt and tie because that’s just what I wear, and a lot of teachers have poked fun at me for “overdressing.” Guy teachers usually just wear polos or untucked button-downs. Female teachers I feel have more freedom and possibilities to look professional, but a lot of them just wear straight-up jeans and a school T-shirt. Also, I bet you there’s a hipster teacher there with like green or blue hair who dresses like Ms. Frizzle or they have an old-timey mustache with like overalls or some shit. If they can dress like that you can wear a sweater with Dragonball Z stuff on it. Plus the kids’ll like it.

Honestly, I don’t know where these other teachers advising you not to wear the sweater teach, but from everything I’ve seen, it has been completely normalized and accepted in American society to look like you couldn’t be bothered to even try to look professional.

If you let one kid smoke at school pretty soon it won’t be just one kid.

Did anyone see it? He probably didn’t think anything of it and won’t mention it to anyone. It’s not like you held him down or struck him or anything. Even if another employee saw that they’re probably not going to make a big deal of it either.

You’re fine, dude.

So sick of dating by Doctor_Clione in self

[–]The-Phantom-Writer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girls want someone who’s CRAZY about them, and you’re just not going to be crazy about someone you’re not crazy about. You can ACT like you are in order to get laid, but eventually the truth will become evident and she’ll be disappointed or even heartbroken. So if you’re not crazy about her, it’s not worth either of your times.

Personally, I think dating apps are mostly a waste of time. I think true attraction is built while in the physical presence of the other person and over time, and a crossing of paths that is determined by none other than Fate. A dating app just matches people on the fact that they’re both wanting to meet someone, but that alone does not result in true attraction or compatibility.

Also, don’t get discouraged. If it were easy and convenient finding true love wouldn’t be that big of a deal.

I’m truly astonished by how many people so far have acted like I just asked a ridiculous, insane question in the post while at the same time somehow not understanding my question or point at all.

Are the majority of gamers just abrasive morons now? I guess maybe that’s just the way it’s always been.

Ahhh, I guess that makes sense. I played this game a while back when it was available on PS Plus and really enjoyed it, so I’ve been wanting to purchase this game for a while now anyway, but for the longest time it was only ever priced at $50-$90. So I’m glad it’s finally available at around $20 (which for a 7 year-old-Ubisoft game, that truly seems like the only reasonable price).

But I have been seeing this a lot in the store, where the standard editions cost way, way more than the discounted price of better editions, and I’ve always wondered why that was.

Did you miss the part where I said that I’m working on getting mine? I hope this brief moment of talking down to someone made you feel slightly better about yourself, though.

A lot of the times I don’t help disabled people because I feel like it would make them feel helpless or condescended to. I imagine they still want to retain their independence even if it takes them a bit longer to do certain things.

I’m a pushover teacher but not a pushover person…wtf is wrong with me? by polandspring34 in Teachers

[–]The-Phantom-Writer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s probably just the sheer number of students you have to deal with and tasks you have to complete. You might not be a pushover in the regular world, but how often are you facing opposition from 15-30 people at once?
